+Spice N’ Pans Hi Roland & Jamie, did up the fried turnip (unhealthy version) as a dish for my lunch. Fried turnip use to be a dish in my family when young. Have the rehydrate dried shrimps and mushrooms pan fried without oil till is fragrant, then add in the cooking oil plus a table spoon of pork lard oil. The rest as your instructions. I always love to add cooking wine / DOM while cooking or seasoning. Stirred in 2 dash of wine and the fried pork lard in there when is half cook. Thank you for the video.

Thanks Roland for another yummy recipes👍🏻 May I know your suggestion to freeze the fried spring roll in the freezer. What’s the best way to heat up, directly out from freezer to deep fry again, oven or air fry please? Sorry for the many questions 😅

Wonderful to see your wok, that tray of condiments (so homely), and to hear the ganang-guni van in background. :)

So beautifully wrapped ... the popiah. Is there a place to get fresh popiah skin or we just get the frozen ones ? Tks !
@spicenpans
@spicenpans 6 жыл бұрын
+green-eyed monster Thank you! We didn’t get the frozen ones although we believe they would turn out great too. We got our popiah skin from NTUC - it’s placed in the fridge (not freezer) section with the noodles. We love the skin very much. Very light and crispy. Better than the frozen ones. Hope this helps.

Hi Roland, I would like to know to freeze them and eat next time, should I free them after fry or before fry? How long can the freeze one to be kept? Thanks.
@spicenpans
@spicenpans 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Allis. Fry them up first. Cool then down then freeze them. Once you’ve frozen them, you can keep them for up to 6 months with no problem. Happy cooking.

Hi Roland, what are your top favourite potluck dishes in terns of how well it keep before being served..for eg, i love spring rolls that you share with us today, but it tends to get soggy after a few hours. Thanks for sharing
@spicenpans
@spicenpans 6 жыл бұрын
+eddie eddie Hi Eddie. You can consider using some of these dishes which I have the recipe for in our channel: (1) Chicken satay. Don’t forget to make your own peanut sauce (2) Air Fried or oven baked honey bbq chicken wings (3) Lor Mai Gai - you don’t have to make these in small portions for the party. Just steam in a big tray and lay your chicken and mushrooms etc on top (4) Kong Bak Bao (5) Sago Pudding with Gula Melaka (6) Japanese croquettes- if your host has an airfryer, you can heat them up on the spot (7) Roasted Pork Belly - this one got to time it to be done just almost you’re leaving for the party. Don’t cut the pork up and also do not cover it up in a container otherwise the moisture will soften the crispness. Cut it on the spot at the party - guaranteed okay cos we tried that before (8) one of the soups we have - we had a Friend who contributed soup for potluck and it was very well-received. (9) chilli or black pepper crabs - who doesn’t love crabs 😜 (10) Pork Rib King. Enjoy your party!

I never thought of using turnip will definitely try this, can I ask do you have a receipe for satay chicken I don't mean the one with skewers but where chicken is stir fried in satay sauce
@spicenpans
@spicenpans 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Steve. Stir fried chicken in satay sauce? Sounds yum. We have never tried the version you're talking about because we have not seen a dish like this in Singapore. But if you don't mind, we can always cook up something along the same idea. Hope to make that soon. Thank you for requesting :)

+Hans On Good morning from Singapore! We’re using cast iron Chinese wok. May I know if you preseasoned your wok before using? Get a heavy-bottom wok is also important- skip those light-weighted ones.

I do not know what went wrong but my popiah turns out very oily after frying.
@spicenpans
@spicenpans 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Cheng Lin. When you fry, use medium to medium high heat. Fry until they are golden brown. When you’re removing the popish from the oil, don’t off the fire or reduce the heat otherwise the oil will be trapped in the popish. Hope this helps.
