That's so sweet of you to make those biscuits for Matt and his dad. As my dad got older, he still went to hunting camp, but he volunteered as the chief cook and bottle washer. He still enjoyed the company at camp. ❤

My mother made the BEST biscuits. She made them with her hands. She would pitch off a little dough and make a perfectly round biscuit. But she could only make 9 to 10 biscuits at a time. If she needed more, she would make another batch. Sure do wish that I had paid more attention to her method. ❤

I thought my mother must have for sure posted this comment because it's been something we've laughed about several times in my family. My uncle even wrote a little song, like Appalachians are know to do, just to tease and make us laugh; it was called 10 or 12 Biscuits.

Haha, no; MY GRANDMOTHER made the best biscuits! I watched her, and learned from her. Mine were very good, but never as good as hers. She would make bigger or smaller batches, but if she needed a very large amount, I imagine she would make another batch, too. Never measured, just always knew. OHHHHhh! They were so good. She made them with her hands, and my mom said they seasoned them, as in they were seasoned with love!

I have been doing this for years! It’s just me and Paul. I make and bake couple dozen and freeze. Then when ready to use I microwave one or two for 30 seconds. It’s literally like a fresh biscuit right out of the oven!

The ULTIMATE home cook! = You've made it so many times, there's no need to measure anymore. 😊 I can eyeball cups, teaspoon, etc. Even there's days, depending on the weather, baking recipes might need a little less wet ingredients. If it's a recipe I've never made, I will measure.

I've used your heavy whipping cream/sr flour recipe since getting married. So easy. We are getting FAT! 😂. I make them all the time. They are perfect and fluffy and I think of your channel every time I make them. Husband is impressed. His mommaw passed away a few years ago and before that, we were over there visiting often. One visit, she said "let's make biscuits". In her 90s and blind with macular degeneration and walking around with an oxygen tube in her nose, I was sort of in a panic trying to keep her from tripping over her oxygen hose while she bossed me around getting ingredients, I finally planted her in one spot at the counter and she did it BLIND the "Granny Way" scooped that crisco out with her fingers and didn't even measure the buttermilk. I've never seen anything like it and they were unbelievable. My mom makes really good "fancy biscuits" too. I've had so much success with the 2 ingredient way that I'm going to stick with that.

Hello, Mrs. Pressley! I have tried several ways of making biscuits, but I really like the lard method the best. Knowing that you are a master in the kitchen, I am going to try your heavy whipping cream version. Freezing biscuits is just flat out smart. They turn out just as good as fresh and make things easy when a body is feeling less than industrious. God bless y'all.

My granny always made biscuits and one time I went home to see her as she was in her very old age. Thst morning when I came in the kitchen, she said she was making wok biscuits. I looked puzzled and said I’ve never heard of those. She took the can and whopped it on the side of her counter . 😂 she said, not wok biscuits, “whop biscuits” I’ll never forget that. That’s. Good idea to freeze them. I know Matt will especially enjoy deer camp this year! No schedule to be on.

Mary Bs is the best store bought frozen biscuit. Aunt Edna kept a baking sheet of biscuits in the freezer as long as i can remember growing up. she never put them in bags, she laid them out on the baking sheet and covered it with satan wrap. then she would just get what she needed. At holiday meals she would make 2-3 pans several days ahead and then just pop them in the oven as needed. i used to do the shortening and yes white lily, i i use the red label. but now i mostly just use butter. i pat them out and normally use a wide mouth jar band to cut them

My granny did the flour bowl biscuits like your momma, except she "choked" each biscuit from the dough, then tucked the edges under. Flipped it over in the hot bacon grease or lard on a round pizza pan that was well seasoned like your "wonky" sheet pan. I usually make drop biscuits, but I plan to to try those cream biscuits soon. Definitely will freeze the extras because there's only two of us. We had biscuit shortcakes often for dessert, as well as "Sugar Biscuits". Hot biscuits, split and slathered with real [homemade] butter, sprinkled generously with sugar and cinnamon, then closed back up and left in the [warm, but turned off] oven to stay warm. By the time supper was finished, all that butter and sugar had melted together and soaked into the warm biscuits. So good! Matt, congrats on the deer! May you bag your limit this season! My late husband was an avid hunter, and he always filled the freezer. I do miss those days...I love venison.

Finally I did it ! Right now, my husband is waiting for me to be able to prepare breakfast again. It is so nice to see a family so much like ours. My husband Brian, just celebrated his 57th birthday this past Sunday on the 8th. He has started celebrating his 45th deer season this year in Easley,South Carolina! We also can deer stew each year. We like to put a slice of bacon on top of the meat in the jar before putting the seal and ring on and placing it in the canner. When we’re ready to eat it for supper, we put it in a pot with one can of cream of mushroom soup and no liquid added with the cream of mushroom soup. The juices from the quart jar mixed with the cream of mushroom makes its own gravy! So amazing over rice!! The mushrooms are minced so small that if you don’t like mushrooms, you’ll still love the cream of mushroom in it! We told a family at the church my husband pastors. Their son doesn’t even like mushrooms but he loved it cause he said the cream of mushroom is minced so fine, you don’t know it’s there! Now their family makes it for their suppers! We went to your book signing in Hendersonville and enjoyed meeting Tipper and Corie! Hope your enjoying the Hagood Mill cookbook! So nice to meet you!

Oh, heck yeah! Having a stash of those frozen biscuits in the freezer feels like having gold in the vault! Fresh or frozen, whipping cream biscuits are a good of the gods! Now, Tipper, it’s odd to me that you haven’t tried them frozen. I grew up occasionally getting biscuits for breakfast, and appreciating it as a rare treat. A few years ago, I discovered a bakery in town which sold their own frozen biscuits. They were really good, and I bought them for several years. But then…I saw your videos about biscuits. I soon realized that the bakery’s biscuits used a good grade of all-purpose flour. Hmm, self-rising flour; I heard it advertised all my childhood (Martha White?) I started looking around KZbin, and that’s what everyone (almost) uses for biscuits. So, I finally screwed up my courage, bought 5 lbs. of flour and a pint of whipping cream, and rolled up my sleeves. Now you have to understand that my wife considers me to be an incompetent in the kitchen, so I get no encouragement. However, I channeled everything I had seen and learned about making biscuits, along with everything you and all the other KZbinrs have taught, and away I went! That recipe is so reliable that it’s near bulletproof! My son loves them. I’ve made them for some others, and they rave about them. I feel like I’ve channeled a strain of mountain magic. 😀 The odd part is that I thought I picked up the idea of freezing them from your videos about biscuits. Today’s video really surprised me. Well, hey, we all learn together.

Matt...you probably already know this, but a biscuit with sugared strawberries and vanilla ice cream is about the best strawberry shortcake ever.

I've been buying frozen biscuits for ease on work / school nights, all along wondering if they would come out if I made them homemade in batches. Thanks so much for the video! It will save me a few dollars and my kids like mine better than the brand, so will be happy. OAN - Momma used to stir syrup and butter together and spread on toast or a biscuit. I hadn't seen anyone else do that - I remember how good it is, but molasses is hard to come by outside the grocery here ...

I'm with you Tipper definitely Sorghum on biscuits if available. The main thing for biscuit dough is to fold it few times so the biscuits have layers when you open them.

You know we gotta try 'em. I have that straight-edge chopper and my other one is a scalloped edge. Praying all went well yesterday with Granny. God Bless in these troubling times.

In all the years I’ve been making biscuits I have never tried freezing them….but I will from now on. What a great idea and a time saver. Ordered your cookbook and can’t wait for it to get here. Thanks for this video Tipper! ❤️

This video is so ironic, as I made biscuits Sunday morning and had too many leftover. I didn't want to waste them, so I froze them already baked. I was thinking this morning, I wonder if this recipe would freeze well and bake like fresh made biscuits. Well, low and behold I get on KZbin and you have a video about freezing biscuits. So, the next time I make biscuits, that's exactly what I'm going to do, is freeze them. Thanks Tipper for sharing. Continued prayers for Granny!

My mother in law used to bake biscuits, then, freeze them. Tasted so good when we 'rebaked' them.

This is a FANTASTIC idea for people who live alone, too, where a whole batch of biscuits (we call them scones in New Zealand) is too much for one person. What a great idea! 😊

My mommas most favorite way to eat hot buttered bread was with sliced tomatos, fresh from the garden, sprinkled with black pepper. That is another cherished memorie from my childhood days.🙂❤️
