Is it cute? Yes. Will it work. Yes. Is it perfect? Nope. But it was made with love and covered in prayer. It will be a gift tomorrow for a beautiful future bride. Now to make its mate. Microwave bowl cozy. Made it with the template, pre-cut batting, and closely watching this video. My first quilted anything. Thanks for teaching!

'Wrap and Zap' batting works for these like a dream. These cozies been around for years but it is nice to see a template available for newer sewers and I love the idea of using the jelly roll for them. :) Doing the lines of quilting through all 4 layers at the bottom of the bowl after it is together is great too as the layers don't separate when washed and gives a slightly sturdier bottom. Another great how-to video. Thank you from Canada!

Thank you! Enjoy! This is our favorite soup! Turkey Chowder 1 cup finely chopped green onion 1 cup finely chopped carrot 1 cup finely chopped celery 1/4 cup butter 1/4 cup flour 2 cups turkey broth or 2 cups chicken bouillon 2 cups half-and-half 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon white pepper 1 dash cayenne pepper 2 cups diced cooked turkey (canned turkey works just as well, I use about four of those "tunafish" sized cans) Directions: 1 Saute onions, carrots, celery in butter until soft but not brown. 2 Blend in flour. 3 Gradually stir in broth, then half& half. 4 Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. 5 Stir in salt, pepper, cayenne, and turkey. 6 Stir a few minutes until turkey is heated through. 7 Devour!

I have made these with one piece of batting and two pieces of batting. it is easier to sew if you use one piece of batting but I've found that a little heat still comes through using only one piece of batting. If you don't mind that then use only one piece but I really like the effects of 2 pieces of batting.

These are also great for Ice Cream, Anything you warm in the Microwave, cobbler, mac and cheese, left overs. I keep ours beside the microwave. I have 3 sizes to accomidate my different bowls. Hi Sharon - We are happy you enjoy this fun project! Prewashing fabrics seems to be a personal preference - You can, as some folks do, but we choose to not prewash prior to creating. Hope this helps! -Michelle

Greetings! Can you show us how to make a cozy that is 6 x 8 to fit a three compartment glass container? I make TV dinners in them and need cozy’s for them. Thanks

I bet this would be great for my bowl of ice cream. It would keep my hands from freezing. One for the milkshake glass would be nice as well. 😁

I've made these in the past but I love the new pre-cut batting and template - makes the process much easier & less time consuming.

I totally agree Cindy, Having the batting perfectly precut and ready to go makes it so quick and easy. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. :) Jen

When I made placemat, I used the leftover fabric to make strips for matching bowl cozies

Just a suggestion -make your seams a little wider as in 3/8 inch to allow for clipping the curves,topstitching,and keeping seams from coming apart when turning (ask me how I know). Also shortening stitch length is helpful for seam protection.

horseloverextreme I set my stitches at a lower number like 2. I also like my bowls cozies 12 inch’s.

would their be away to increase the size to accommodate a larger bowl cozies or to shrink it down for a coffee cup
@ShabbyFabrics4 жыл бұрын
For larger bowls, you could follow the same shape and just cut your own batting that's a bigger size. We'd start by measuring the bowl or cup in question and testing things out with paper before committing to fabric. - Morgan
