I have a lovely local bartender that makes a mezcal last word (i think you swap the gin), it's heavenly. Greg from How To Drink did an episode on the last word and said it was an easy recipe to use as a basic formula for variations and making new cocktails, which makes sense

Two things 1 the Monks that made green cheartruce aren't making any more and 2 it's pronounced mara ski no luqur mara she no are the cherries used to make a shiley temple (which ironicly she actually didn't like)

You can actually pronounce either one either way, the k sound is the original Italian and sh sound is the localized for English speakers. If you’ll notice the cherries and liquor are the same brand, it’s the same word from the same people from the same language. Oh also the monks aren’t making more in the sense that they aren’t increasing production, they’re continuing to make it

Do you know the history of it? The color is actually named for the drink! It’s made in a monastery by Carthusian monks at the base of the chartreuse mountains which get their name from a nearby town which gets its name a Gaulish word presumably for the local inhabitants
