The first written recipe was recorded in Scotland,It was a related recipe called a bannock,which contained oats. Scone like breads have been mentioned much earlier, all over the British Isles.The name scone is thought to come from the old English word sconfrot meaning fine/ beautiful bread and was mentioned being given with clotted cream and jam as thanks for work by monks to labourers at Tavistock monastery,as early as the 11th century,which is interesting as Devon and Cornwall are still the most famous places you associate with scones,and a cream tea.

lol- fridge. That’s what I get for typing before coffee. After watching many scone videos this morning I believe my dough was too wet too. Eggs are a binding agent, so it’s all about personal preference really, some people might not like the taste with eggs, it’s all about getting the binding right so there shouldn’t be much difference in the texture. I will try this but only one roll-out and a knife to cut in less than prefect squares. Hate washing cutters; I"ll call mine "rustic". Thanks for sharing/teaching!

Haha I hate washing them to, but no matter what the shape they all taste fantastic, thank you so much for watching. Rob

@@RobertKelly-simplecookingThe first written recipe was Brannock,a Scottish oat scone,but scones were mentioned 300 years before then in Devon!

Scones look great. Your dancing back and forth and your full tatoos create bad impressions and actually not very appetizing.

WOW I really hope you didn’t subscribe, talk about judging a book by its cover, did you ever think that a judgemental attitude like that is what’s wrong with the world today. Rob
@janetleeadams72879 ай бұрын
Sorry. No person judgment involved. Just remarking on appearance that might be off-putting to potential subscribers. Humans survived, and still do, by first judging appearances, deciding if approaching people/animals are friendly or dangerous. Scones look great but there again, just looking at the appearance.@@RobertKelly-simplecooking

For sure I was way too rude and blunt. My sincere apologies. You are working. You have a youtube channel. Good for you. My friends encourage me to have a youtube channel but I can never get organized or focus. So: as the advice goes: compliment, criticism, compliment. Your instructions and voice were clear. That is good. There seems to be a nervous feeling with your back and forth movement that can be very distracting especially for people who have a hard time focusing. Finally, you are actually DOING what a lot of people only THINK about. Congratulations.@@RobertKelly-simplecooking
