Hi Gina, I just learned how to knit after 60 years of trying and failing and being told I'd never do it. I've been watching all of Chandi's tutorials and really paying attention to what her hands are doing but what finally did it for me was Marly Bird's Bi-Crafty Bootcamp beginner Knitting lessons for Crocheters. When I couldn't get the hand motions right I would come back here and rewatch Chandi and try again. I'm left handed but I finally taught myself to knit right handed. I bought the advanced beginner pattern "Darcy" and I started playing with it and some really cheap yarn just to get the feel of the pattern and I'm doing it! Chandi helped a lot and her team is always willing to answer questions about anything regardless of whether it's their pattern or something else entirely. I just love her and her videos!

Another stunner! I love all your patterns really, so it's not a surprise! And all your yarns look gorgeous! I'm hoping to finally get to purchase some soon -- as a congratulations of sorts for finishing my PhD (once I submit my thesis next month, of course)! Then comes the hard part of choosing from amongst my ever-growing wishlist of drool-worthy yarns! A few have been discontinued, though, so I suppose that helps narrow the field :) Do you ever do new batches of yarn that you don't currently have in stock. I've been in love with the Dried Rosemary colour way (that and the Cornsilk one!) for about a year (really would love to make the Spring Carnival pattern in the Autumn colours!), but I couldn't afford it while it was in stock. Just wondering if it will make a come back at all.... Thanks for always bringing us such amazing patterns!

This is another beautiful shawl pattern. I do have a question. I live in Canada and find the yarn (the most beautiful!) is quite expensive with the added exchange, customs duty, etc. so wonder if it is knit with the same colour group of yarn could you get away with 3 skeins instead of 4? I could use other yarn but I find yours is so beautiful that I am addicted. Love, love, love your tutorials. Thanks Chandi as always
@ExpressionFiberArts3 жыл бұрын
I think you can get away with 3 skeins. For the sample, we used a total of 652 yards. 3 skeins of pearlescent worsted would yield you 660 yards. It would be close, but I think it can be done. 💕💕
@IDontSuckAtLifeakaJanis39753 жыл бұрын
I'll have to re-write the pattern though so as not to get confused replacing "with left-hand needle..." with "with right-hand needle..." or just cross that part out altogether and concentrate only on "lift first of 3 sts just knitted..." Now that I'm thinking about it..I'm wondering if the order of stitches in each row should be reversed as well (any experienced lefties out there who can provide an answer?) #LeftHandedProblems *I've had issues like this all my life with crochet as well but can pretty much mindlessly adjust at this point. Just learning to knit though so it'll take a bit more thought*
@KK-qg3rm3 жыл бұрын
You can knit it exactly as written, just remember you’re always using the opposite needle to lift the stitches….same as any pass over. Very similar to how you’d normally work a skpo (slip, knit, pass slipped stitch over). Working left-handed will make the same FO, just mirrored.
@IDontSuckAtLifeakaJanis39753 жыл бұрын
@@KK-qg3rmthank you for your response. With a shawl this won't make too much of a difference. Mirrored only matters sometimes. When I was younger I often had to switch up a lot of things crochet when projects in no way resembled what the finished project SHOULD be functionally. (The last time was a crocheted elephant. Once I got to the trunk, working the stitches as followed, it began turning in on itself and the poor thing would've had an inverted trunk...)

Question: I’m currently knitting a colourwork/fairisle cowl, and I’ve done all of the fair isle chart rows. I reached the last 2 rows, and these rows ask for me to knit a plain stockinette in the background colour, so I went ahead and chopped off my other pattern colour. But I’m confused about gauge. Stockinette’s gauge is different to stranded colourwork; stockinette rows tends be wider than stranded colourwork rows. So If I use the same size needle, wouldn’t I end up with a project that became wider? Help please! *In a nutshell, how do I switch from fair isle to plain stockinette in the same project?*
@ExpressionFiberArts3 жыл бұрын
I would test your gauge with both and go down a needle size if your stockinette is larger. :)
@madisonbuechler4683 жыл бұрын
So beautiful! Just got my yarn and cast on for this project! I'm wondering though, would it mess up the pattern if I use size 8 needles for the openwork section and size 7 needles for the stockinette & garter ridge section? Thank you for always having the best patterns and yarn 🧶 ❤️

Madison, that is a good idea - definitely try a small swatch first to see what you think but I don't think it would mess anything up. :)
