How To Make Train Simulator 2020 Realistic

Hey guys!
Very first thing! I forgot to mention some things. I was just told about Virtual Rail Creations C30-7 on the Steam store. It is a very great sounding and looking locomotive so check that out! Also, check out the steam workshop for free addons for train sim! Great routes to include: Blackwood Creek, Adriana County, Majestic Falls, and others!
I'm very poor at making videos like this where I'm talking on the fly, but I hope you get the gist of it all. This whole video is a matter of my own opinion. I am in no way endorsed or otherwise employed by any of the people or companies that I referred to.
If you guys have any other suggestions of how to make Train Simulator more realistic let me know!

My apologies, Im doing this on my desktop which has a 2070 super. I couldn’t remember if I recorded this on my old laptop which had a 1060 or my desktop. But this was on the desktop with a 2070 super.

@KZbin Commenter It's probably your processor because I have your same gpu and never had lagging in TS from an i5 9400f 16gb ram (7 mo's) to now a i9 9900k 32gb ram still same gpu.

Thanks alot for making this video, Train Sim looks and feels old in its base form but these enhancement packs definitely promise to make the Sim feel sound and look more modern.

Thanks for the video I have a question if download all the features except Rolling stock and locomotives and the sound pack it will go the train simulator game because I did download all of the and so the GEVO sound doesn’t work on the drive quick the sound will work on career and scenery build

Hello! I'm trying to enhance my understanding of Train Simulator 2020, but there are so few resources available on the basics of how the simulator works and the methods to enhance it. This video is probably the best I've found yet. I have so many questions about adding routes, compatibility of add-ons, what will work with what, etc. Could you please point me in the direction of any resources that might help me get the most out of this enjoyable simulation? Also, I lean towards the modern diesel era, and I'm looking to purchase an additional route. I have read reviews, and it seems all have various bugs. Which routes would you recommend for stability and enjoyment? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I’m glad this video helped you! Your best resource for routes will be going on the Train Simulator page on the steam store and going through their DLC. Routes from there that I enjoy are Marias Pass, Donner Pass, Ohio Steel Division 2, Norfolk Southern Coal District, and Sherman Hill. From those choices you can look into each of them and choose what best suits you. There are also routes in the Steam Workshop that are free that are good. Those are routes called Adriana County, Blackwood Creek, and Majestic Falls. Locomotives I would choose are the Searchlight Simulations ones I displayed here and their corresponding cars. All locomotive and rail cars will work automatically with all routes, however, only Searchlight Simulations locomotives and cars are 100% compatible with each other. That’s not a huge deal though because they provide many pay ware and freeware items to run. You will mostly have to run these trains and routes from Quick Drive because scenarios aren’t provided or are low quality. You can make your own scenarios in the editor though. Sadly steam doesn't emphasize where the Manual can be found for it, it's LITERALLY inside your system folder for the game after steamapps/common🤷🏾‍♂️

Does Railworks Enhancer Pro make the headlights flare on the locomotive look better?

I believe it makes them look slightly better, however, I find that headlight flare varies per model. For example, the headlight flare on my Searchlight Simulations locomotives and Smokebox locomotives look really good, whereas with the base game models it’s virtually nonexistent. It will not add headlight flare

if you want to be the train driving more realistic instead of making the graphic nicer then you should try ZUSI 3. its from the company that make the software for the real trainsimulators that the deutsche bahn uses to test their employees.

Shame that almost all the default sounds are as bad as they are. I got the Conrail SD40-2s. Way better than any of the stock options. Although some features like the class lights and the radio dont work in quick drive for some reason. And on some custom scenarios in build mode from what i have seen. I want to try out some of the enhancements now. I hadnt really looked into them till I saw this vid. Hopefully we get some decent stuff for TSW.

Radio actually does work, you just have to put in the correct channel and turn it up all the way. I want to say it’s 64 64?

@@TheTrainFan I assure you, unfortunately, it doesnt work for me on quick drive and some others. I put it on 46 46 cause that.s conrails channel and i turn it up and nothin happens. I even contacted searchlight about it. But on this one particular route, it wasnt working at first, and then one day it just decided to work. Idk what's up with that. I had an issue where the scenarios that come with the NS bundle, the 1993 scenario would launch but not trains would spawn in. I decided to reinstall it and it worked after that. However, I tried that with the conrail loco and it didnt change the outcome. For all I know it might take another reinstall or more for it to work properly. Or it may just start working randomly.

Hm that is unfortunate. I think Train Sim isn’t the most mod friendly, however, I have had a lot of luck with these mods

Nearly 2 years ago it wasn’t a bad setup. And that was also assuming quite a few train simmers don’t have extravagant rigs to run simulators on. Many might not be huge gamers. But yes, no longer high end
