My wife and I love pot pie. I agree with the store bought crusts. Makes it a whole lot faster, never thought of the no crusts before.

Hi backachershomestead. Using the store bought crusts are so fast and convenient at times, plus they taste decent. I've used venison in this recipe, also (in place of beef) and it's good. 😊

I like the way you make that. A little different then mine but i like the way you use milk. Im like you simple is good. I have used turkey stew (really any stew) for pot pie. I also like to butter the crusts. Have a great dinner. I hope he got his deer. God bless.

Hi Di. I've used venison in a version of pot pie also and it's good. And hubs got a deer tonight. We're going to split it with our son so both families will be guaranteed venison. If either of them shoot another one, we'll split that one as well. We were blessed another season! Sleep well and God bless. 😊💗

I love my homemade pot pies or any pie and I make a lot of them. Last year at Thanksgiving I was simply too busy to make my own crust and broke down and bought premade crust. I actually felt guilty about it. However, now it is a game changer and I keep them in my freezer at all times. Thanks for the great video. You got me in the mood for pot pie. 😊

Ok Mickey...now your videos are seeping into my sleep! Was having trouble staying asleep tonight and every time I fell back to sleep I started dreaming about making a chicken pot pie with the chicken I cooked up & stuck in the fridge! This video of yours was the 1st one to pop up, so pot pie, salad & rolls are whats on my Sunday dinner menu!! Thanks and your crust came out beautiful! Take care, God bless 🙏🙏 Smellin' any snow yet?? 😉

Oh my goodness, Sandi! Thanks for the chuckle. 😆 That sounds like a delicious meal you've got planned! We've had light snow flurries but it's not going away. I woke up to 17° and I'm sure it will drop a 1 or 2 more degrees yet before the sun pokes up. I guess that's why I heard the furnace running. 🤭 I'll be grabbing a big container of gluten free Italian pasta salad to bring to church for our pot blessing. I'm sure we'll have a wonderful day of fellowship. Then I'm heading to my folks to finish up some yard work for them. I hope you have a wonderful and blessed day! 😊💗

Thanks! I didn't know pot pies were made out of regular pie crust. It's good to see you using your own canned broth from 2017, I was wondering how long they keep. My hubby just spent 5 days hunting elk.
@OuttheBackDoor Жыл бұрын
Hi GoWest. Did your hubby harvest an elk??? That's something we've never done yet is gone elk hunting. My husband accuses me of trying to kill him when he sees the dates on some of the canned foods I'm opening up for us to eat. Good grief! Does he think I want intestinal distress? 😳 I've learned to make sure and hide the lids. 😂
@gowest5145 Жыл бұрын
@@OuttheBackDoor No, the first day he saw a bull elk but it wasn't in the game management unit that he had a tag for. It is kind of sad because it was about 100 ft. from him but he just was not in the right spot so he had to let it go. I told him that most guys probably would have shot it, but he goes by the rules. He didn't see another one the next 4 days. My family is weird about the dates too. I have a son that throws cans out if they go past the Best to Use by Date on the can. He is really funny about it. I have never ever had food go bad on me, not one time.

I recently discovered your channel and I love it. You got me wandering what part of the US you are from since your recipes are so similar if not the same as mine which are taken from my Mom years ago. Anyway, I'm learning new things like store bought crust. I made mine again this year but I'll definitely try the store crust.
@OuttheBackDoor Жыл бұрын
Hi cdnsoul. Welcome to the channel and thanks for hanging out with me! I'm guessing you live in the Midwest? I'm in Northern Minnesota. Homemade crust with lard is the best, but store bought works when I'm pressed for time. 😊
@cdnsoul5808 Жыл бұрын
Minnesota is close to Canada which is where I am from. Most of my recipes, handed down from grandma and mom are from western Quebec and/or eastern Ontario. We lived on the border, still do, and benefited from both sides way of cooking. Lard is the very best especially when I can get it fresh shortly after the animals are processed.
