Just made a fringe twister with clips from the dollar store, a cut up wire hanger, and 2 scrap blocks of wood. Thanks! Finishing up my second scarf now! 🥳

Oh gosh, this video is just perfect timing. I just bought myself a fringe twister (I’ve only been weaving for a few months) and was completely flummoxed. This is great, thanks as always.

Wow, so smart this fringe twister... I had to make twisted fringe this week for a crochet scarf and did it all manually. If I ever have to make a lot, I could buy one or as my husband to make one for me 😊could you tell me how long your fringe is after twisting and knotting. After 13 twists, mine seemed to loose a lot of length😯 Thank for all your videos... you're very pleasant watching! It's always interesting and instructive! Guylaine 💚

Thanks so much! Yes! I used to make all my twisted fringe by hand and never thought I needed a fringe twister... until I used one and realized how handy it was! Yes, I think my fringe loses quite a lot of length as well. It's probably about about 20% shorter than before. Thanks for watching!

Oooh I wish I'd watched this before trimming the fringe on my blanket. I just picked up the Ashford fringe twister at my local spinning & weaving shop and was about to start twisting. But that rotary cutter idea is brilliant, I just lined up the fringe along the edge of my table and cut it with scissors but I noticed I had a slight angle sometimes which didn't give the cleanest cut. I'll remember that for next time.

Wow! That is a cool tool. Looking forward to seeing you this evening at the Fiberside Chat.

I trim and twist my fringes in the exact same manner however I usually twist in groups of 2 ends per clip, depending on the weight of yarn of course.

Oh that’s great Heather! That probably makes it all go by faster too! Thanks!

Aww thanks! We made these tutorials in 2020 and never had a chance to release them... and we just shot the first video of 2021 yesterday. It's going to be out next Friday! :)

Thanks for this amazing video. But, oh no, I tied odd bunches of threads into the hemstitching. How can I twist fringe with odd numbers of threads across the entire piece?

Not a weaver, so this is brand new to me. If the fiber is wool, will it stay twisted without a knot? Thank you!
@sweetgeorgia11 ай бұрын
In some cases yes! I’ve seen twisted fringe in untreated wool blankets… the blankets are fulled and the wool in the fringe fulls together. You can clip off the knots and then the fulled fringe stays twisted!

I'd like to know more about the pattern for the cool scarf. Is it available? What yarn did you use?
@sweetgeorgia Жыл бұрын
Oh thank you! The scarf was from an Advent weaving project that I designed called Trimmed in Twill. I wove it in SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock. sweetgeorgiayarns.com/shop/trimmed-in-twill/

How did you hem the ends prior to twisting? Thanks.

I hemstitch the beginning and ending of my cloth while it’s still on the loom. That should probably be another tutorial. We do demonstrate it inside the School of SweetGeorgia, for sure. 😊

Does anyone know how to make such a twister yourself?
