5:52 if your a Reason user then there are hundreds of Hiphop drum loops already chopped like this in the Rex player device you can slow sections, reverse them pich them. You can put the loop to midi same as in this video and move stuff about.

@3:03 I've used this technique in tracks in the past and i was always self-conscious about doing it... thinking it would just cause phase/mix issues or that it was in some ways "redundant". It makes me happy to know that my intuitions on this technique are actually valid! Some samples already have a bass that works but just need the low end separated and enhanced.
