Now, when we talk about making and applying vinyl decals, we mean ADHESIVE vinyl -- this is a vinyl with a self adhesive backing. Vinyl like this comes in both permanent and removable variations, and while you might at first think that removable vinyl would be best, it's not. Removable vinyl is really intended for things like walls or other porous or fragile surfaces that could be damaged by the adhesive on a vinyl. But surfaces like metal, glass, and ceramic - which is what you'll find on things like kitchen appliances - are best decorated with permanent adhesive vinyl, because it will stick better and you CAN remove it from these hard surfaces later if you really want.
You can use vinyl of any color of style, but in my experience some vinyls, such as glitter and foil, is harder to weed, harder to apply, and less likely to stay put, so if you're a beginner, I'd just avoid that and stick with a basic solid vinyl.
In addition to the vinyl, you need transfer tape, which is an adhesive sheet you put over your decal to transfer it onto your surface. I'm using Cricut transfer tape -- and it's important you use regular transfer tape, not the StrongGrip stuff.
You'll also want a weeder, a scraper, a ruler or measuring tape, rubbing alcohol, and lint-free towels or something else that's lint-free, like a coffee filter.
Last but not least, you need a vinyl decal design! I have eight pre-made with beautiful hand-lettering for you to use, or you can design your own. So let me show you where to find my free designs on my blog at JenniferMaker.com, then we'll head over to Cricut Design Space to make our vinyl decals and then I'll show you how I put the vinyl decals on my InstantPot, KitchenAid Mixer, Keurig Coffeemaker, and

Jennifer you are SUCH and inspiration, I just got my Cricut Explore Air 2 the middle of Sept. as an early Christmas gift and I started watching your videos to learn so I could make gifts for Christmas gifts (Christmas is tight this year hubs is on leave from work) I have made 77 projects and counting. I have embellished mittens, gloves, hats, t-shirts, blankets everything I got my hands on for the past month. I do enjoy Cricut Design space immensely and I'm still learning, I find the iPad Pro pad the easiest to use so I tend to use that the most. I do appreciate all you do and love your blog and KZbin lessons.Thank you for all the lessons Jennifer.

I've watched a few of your videos and I love them. I really appreciate that you show how things don't always go as planned. I've had a cricut maker for about a year and I've hardly used it... mostly because of time, but also because I don't like messing up. Thank you for showing that it's ok to mess things up.

diana hafely here’s a true fact.... I’ve used various Cricut machines for the past almost 20 years and felt I was fairly good and comfortable using each one. However, when I received my Explore Air when they first came out I would literally sit in front of it and just stare at it, my hubby said I looked as if I was expecting some zombie hand to reach out and grab mine! 🤣 But after some time and several learning curves, I finally was comfortable enough and picked right back up and started enjoying my machine like all the previous ones! I now use a Maker machine along with my Explore Air, they’re both invaluable and used for different projects or together at the same time if I have a large project I’m working on. And mistakes are actually so helpful, I STILL mess up, we ALL make mistakes, but I’ve learned to roll with it... at least I know there’s no zombie hand that’s going to grab mine! ❤️ And there’s nothing wrong with asking for help, there’s many of us that would be more than happy to walk you through an issue you’re having. Jennifer’s videos are absolutely beneficial and so helpful, how I wish she’d been around when I was a “rookie” with fears of zombies in my machines! 🤣

@@JMicheleS33 thank you for the encouragement! I finally sat down at my computer last night and decided on a project. In all fairness, an acquaintance of mine said she knows that I make ornaments and asked for something specific so that helped my decision. I looked up a few things, found a video, and then finally started it. As usual, things didn't go exactly as the video showed, but I figured out my own way. Unfortunately, I realized that I don't have the right material so I have to go to the craft store today. It is my hope that once I get home tonight and click "make it" that things will go well. Have a wonderful day! Again, thank you!

You are an amazing teacher! I have been following you now for some time now knowing one day I would begin to use my cricut (5 yrs old now LOL). I of course made the most intricate image to begin with in photoshop (I am a pretty decent digital artist) ... I didn't quite know how that translated in the weeding! Well I got it but I had to "replace/move" the letters of some that came up while weeding. THANKS again for all that you do to help the beginning like myself! You are truly remarkable. P.s. The first time I tried to cut vinyl - it would not cut all the way through. I thought I'd done something wrong in settings etc - but a friend in our campsite came by to see what might be going on and she told me I did NOT have the blade correctly seated in the blade housing. She said she still does that at times even though she is long eperienced! I went through 12" of vinyl before I got that all figured out! Hope this might help someone else.

I just came across this video and I had to giggle. My husband drinks only hot tea and I will drink either hot tea or coffee. However, he does not like the way his tea tastes after our Keurig has been used with a coffee pod. So, in the house we have both a Keurig for tea and one for coffee, lattes, and cappuccino’s. We also have a camper that we use during the nicer months, so for Christmas I got him his own Keurig for his tea to keep in the camper. I have already cut out of metallic vinyl “Rocky’s Tea Pot” and put on the front. It’s under the tree. 👍😊

Often when I cut with the foil vinyls and such, I leave my settings as is but cut it twice...when it is done cutting the first time, do not remove the mat but instead hit the “c” cut button again...it will give it a second cut...I have cut some pretty fine and dainty elements that way. And in all honesty...I have waisted some pretty vinyl and valuable time on a couple...but you have to try!!! Love your tutorials...oh, btw...my daughter wanted a color of vinyl that only came in removable on her coffee cup that she hand washes....a year later it is still on and in tact. I would not do it for anyone else...but it is hard to say no sometimes and she was willing to give it a try!

This idea would be nice on outdoor mailboxes if there are still such things. Garbage cans to tell them where it belongs. Rear door side windows avoiding the windshield wiper in the rear and most rear door side windows avoiding the windshield wiper in the rear and most SUVs canister sets, teapots. The ideas are endless and I'm just a newbie and still haven't got any clue of what the heck I'm doing but still watching your videos

Just order my Cricut bundle from HSN and hope to get it soon but I plan on making a few pieces of vinyl for my sister's car. She had one for Suicide Awareness because our brother committed Suicide. She had one on her older car but traded it in for a new one so I plan on making her a new one for that. The next is a Pheonix which she loves but more so after her divorce and rising from that to become a stronger woman and single mother of two. But luckily the kids were old enough when it happened that they were able to take care of themselves while she worked but my mom also helped out a lot. Just downloaded your digital playbook.
