Hi, friend! If you accept some suggestions of mine, wich could make your bargraph V.U. too better, just do these simple changes: One: put, beetwen every base of all the BC547 and the ground (negative pole of the battery), one 10k resistor, just to keep those NPN transistors in the level zero (low) while they don't receive the (variable, coming to the rectified and filtred AC audio signals) DC that make them work - those additional 10k resistors could avoid intermediate lightnings of the LEDs; two: reduce to 22 (or 10) microfarad the filter capacitor used in the time constant made by it and the parallel 10k resistor: this change will make faster the response of your circuit, to the levels of audio amplitude.

Great video im love the discrete circuits. vumeter is a multiuse circuit for measurements sensors. Signals. Voltmeters etc. The principe of function is voltage of polarization in bipolar transistor 0,6 vdc for exiting led diodes. gretings.

I think it would be a good idea to replace the 470 ohms resistors with let's say 680 ohms. The rest is for what I understand not critial.

Your solder dries matt. It should be shiny. Do you not use flux? Something badly needs cleaning. Your tip looks like you did concreting with it. This might all work for a month or two, but you will get oxidization in those joints and they will fail sooner or later.
