Thanks, this was helpful. I made a piece of waxed canvas for a bag using these instructions, and it looks good. I'll sew it together tomorrow. And I used the iron, and it seems fine.

Nice organic approach! I've been thinking about doing this for a while but I wonder about the weight increase for a satchel I made from denim. Denim is thicker and will absorb more. Any recommendations?

Thanks, fantastic tutorial! My sisters a hairdresser and I was going to make a travel case for her scissors, in the video you say to wax after the sewing but would you still do that if the item features an enclosed element such as a pocket; I'm worried wax might collect in the little pockets that the scissor blades sit in. Would er interested in your opinion.

I tried this on a bucket hat with 3:1 beeswax and linseed oil. It dried instantly and was whitish so I put the hat in the microwave for 1 min on high and it all went into the fabric, used a hair dryer on a couple of spots, it all came out good.

@@Dominic.Minischetti Yes, This happens kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5i8hWqNoa-Iq68 I was researching and found this video. This company says it's normal and I've been sorted out like them. It is normal? In addition, I have used 100% beeswax and I have also used 50/50 beeswax and paraffin wax with some coconut oil. Thank you, I remain attentive to any recommendation.

@@Dominic.Minischetti i watched a ton of videos.. theyre mixing linseed , turpentine spirit and bees waxed.. if beeswax alon is ok why they mix some oil and thinner?
@Dominic.Minischetti
@Dominic.Minischetti 4 жыл бұрын
arvin egualan You’re welcome brother! The oil cloth is much more water resistant, but takes much more work to make properly. The advantages of the wax is it’s faster and can be touched up very fast also! If I was making a tent or tarp, I would use oilcloth, for pretty much everything else I would use the waxed canvas! I hope that helps!
@Dominic.Minischetti
@Dominic.Minischetti 4 жыл бұрын

0:36, I”d be careful with linseed oil and cloth, it will ignite, I stop using linseed oil because of it, I’ve worked with many combustibles and linseed oil I’ve seen a number of times smoking and glowing, If I did use it, I would soak it in water and put it in it’s own bag, it was too much bother and concern, so I just stop using it, I’m a carpenter for over 50 years
