Good one Sifu.. yes sir. . more key points learned from this.. no doubt.. People get to train in cozy air conditioned rooms, right Sifu?.. I love how you guys always train outside & in the elements.. I know a Wing Chun Sifu from the inner city of New York named Professor Watts (he actually did security on the set of the show "Blue Bloods"). . He's always training with the young men in the neighborhood & they always train outside in the park & out in the elements.. I've seen those brothers train in "New York Winter" coldness, bundled up but going in hard.. Professor Watts says something similar to you Sifu; that it's essential to train out in the elements & be used to & know how to defend yourself in different environments & elements.. no doubt.. . . Excellent closed eye/blind fold training too Sifu.. indeed that also builds tactile awareness very strongly.. yes sir. ..

Firstly, I love your channel. Unfortunately, as you say, the "movies" do not accurately reflect Wing Chun in practice. We do not fight like Chi Sao. That is a training and sensitivity exercise. Center does NOT mean standing in front of someone parrying; it means "where" we transfer energy [to their tailbone so they cannot escape the force] and where we concentrate [and connect] "our" energy [in our gearbox of the hips]. I have been in multiple fights against multiple opponents multiple times throughout my life [none of which I "started"]. If it were not for Wing Chun, I would most certainly be dead and so would some people I care about [two knife attacks in closed quarters as well as a pipe wrench attack]. One key is learning to accept and "seek" contact. This is to our great advantage. Position allows opportunity; balance allows response. So our first touch must transfer energy into their center and affect their balance so they cannot "respond" with any real energy. For me, most fights effectively ended upon contact because of being able to feel and displace their center and balance point. We must maintain contact and drive forward using our center and mass, not our "arms" or "legs". If we lose contact, the fight "restarts". We're not boxing. We should rush upon loss of contact and finish immediately. I'll say this: If one does not understand lines of force they do not understand Wing Chun. Speed multiplies force, but contact can divide it. We should seek to make contact "control" by off-centering our opponent and contacting beside their lines of force rather than at the "apex" of the triangle, then driving into their base. This requires very little movement on our part. I have much more to say on this subject but it would be a long comment. Your students are very fortunate and I enjoy your channel and thoughtful content. If inclined, I can more fully elaborate in private. As you know, there are many misunderstandings of the art and its application.

very important: on moving target; most flashy wing chun punches end in the air if you dont train this!

Excellent point about training with untrained people. I always say the 2 most dangerous people are white belts and black belts.

in any style dont let your opponent to drive you back, opponent throws punches or kicks throw your own punches and kicks much more and faster, this way the opponent will not yhink that youre an easy guy to defeat.

Yeah besides not being trained the other reason is because they're afraid they're going to get knocked out they don't want to get hit scratched up poked in the eye accidentally or on purpose they go in with a lot of fear because they know that anything can happen even if your trained anything can happen
