Hi! Thank you so much for watching and glad you enjoyed it! My grandad used this trick to get really shiny surfaces :) you can do lots of coats of varnish but before you put on another coat it needs to be a little course, so it sticks :) if you keep repeating varnish and sand, you’ll get a really shiny surface 😄😄

Thank you for the kind words! That’s exactly what we were going for, simple and functional while still looking nice. We got the backsplash from The Range or Dunelm, can’t remember but it’s just PVC material that people usually use for table cloths! Very cheap and works a treat!

Guys can I ask how you supported your sink underneath? Mine sits on the lip of the cabinet below so it’s supported in that sense already but due to the lip of the sink it’ll cause my worktop to not sit level and I need to devise a way around this.. love your build btw!

Hi! Firstly thank you for watching 😊 It’s 18mm timber board from Selco :) we were lucky enough to borrow a membership card! I think sometimes it’s also called furniture board :)

Have you noticed any water damage using wood around the sink? Does the varnish do a good job of keeping everything water proof?

Hi! we have had no water damage at all! I think I put 4 layers of yacht varnish on. Make sure each layer is slightly sanded before putting the next one on so it sticks and leave the last one un sanded :) Make sure its completely solid dry (it takes a while) :) I really recommend this varnish!

Hello, it’s called timber board/furniture board in the UK at least. It is 18mm thick and I can’t remember how deep the sink is but it’s similar to a household sink if that helps at all. Thanks for watching!
