Trees inside the PoW camp? Was that historical? Very detailed, nice video. How long did it take to make? :)
@ww2historyandreenacting5 жыл бұрын
Hello Johnson. No, trees inside the POW camp was probably not realistic - and that's why I wanted the smokescreen to hide both the trees and the fact that I was alone (artistic and moody photo). I used the camera angles to try and cheat this fact instead. I did not have permission to take down any of these trees, unfortunately... SO had to make the best out of the situation ;) How long did it take to make the video or the photos? Best regards from Norway! :) :)
@JohnsonTheSecond5 жыл бұрын
@@ww2historyandreenacting I meant how long did it take to set the scene up, take photos and then edit them, in total. It looks like quite a lot of work, but the results are very good from all that effort! Thanks for the response.

Do you have any more footage of the Luftwaffe reenactment at 7:28 that you could share here on KZbin? That impression is absolutely stunning! Great job!

One tip I would give; wide angle lenses back then where virtually non-existent. You already get way better pictures by picking a lens of between 40 and 60 mm. Or to zoom in, just a bit. Great video!

Great photography there! You look very authentic.👍 An 8 day reenactment, whoa! Now that's hardcore! Have you and your group considered doing some photo ops on actual WW2 German vehicles? Perhaps huddled on the back of a Panther or Sturm Geshutz, or going into action in a halftrack, that's loaded down with gear. That is if they are available to you. Your one picture reminds me of some photos of German troops in the Battle of the Bulge. Well done sir!👍👍👍

Double thank you, really appreciate that! Yes, this was part of a 10 day immersion event with a two day tactical/battle event at the end. It was an awesome experience! Taking photos like this would be beyond awesome, unfortunately we have not had the opportunity yet - hopefully in the future! Again, thank you so much! Best regards from Norway! :)

So, what type of camera did the German soldier use in this time? I’d prefer something that can be carried in a pocket.
@ww2historyandreenacting4 жыл бұрын
There were a lot of different types, quite a few with compact designs. All sorts of prewar cameras were used - My favorite is the Kodak Retina. Its small, compact, uses 35 mm film, and is very user friendly :)

Great video! My great grandfather had a camera during war, it's a good opportunity to see what kind of photos he took, and to be honest: he mostly made tourist-like pictures, also a few war related, but mostly pictures of his friends, buildings, and other every-day-situations. Some off-topic question: could you make a video of leather-care of items like belt, ammo pouches and boots please? It's always easy too get things dirty, but cleaning is something else...
