dear colin smith Your tutorial is very interesting with raw files. I learned today how to improve the whole perspective in landscape photography. Basically how to eliminate masking and shading of objects in the field by adding filters. And how to work with optics in a raw camera. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing and mentoring.

Fabulous tutorial, I have been stuck doing the same thing over and over with my landscapes and this has given me so many more options! Can't wait to try this out on a number of landscapes that are special to me and see how much better they will look! I love how well you explain it all at a pace that is very easy to follow, thank you so much.

Thanks. That was another helpful tutorial. I usually use curves adjustments with masking. However, after watching the video I will try the dodging and burning, combined with camera raw, to make adjustments.

Great tutorial Colin. I appreciate the manner in which you highlighted the curser in your workflow. It makes it so much easier to follow your movements in the workflow.

Thanks Colin, Another great tutorial. You give so much valuable instruction that is always well structured, clear and knowledgable. Since retiring have found out that it is never too late to learn/relearn new skills. Can’t believe it is all free so just a small contribution from across the pond in England U.K.

Adjusting the highlights and shadows BEFORE the exposure is a great idea. I changed my workflow to reflect that on an image I previously edited, and it really makes a difference in the overall tone of the image.

Thanks for this, Colin. I think simplicity achieves far better results than a long process using almost every tool in the box. Glad to see your use of D&B, my preferred way too. I get a lot of stick from some people because they reckon it's "old skool" but I love the method because it feels more personal or individual.

The best work flow video I've ever seen Colin - thank you!. I'm just wondering why you didn't address the detail sliders in ACR. Besides reducing noise (when required), I always slide the sharpen slider all the way left to zero, and do my sharpening as the last step in PS (as you did). Is there a reason you don't zero out the sharpening in ACR?
@photoshopcafe
@photoshopcafe 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. I don’t mind a little pre sharpening in Lightroom. It compensates for the lens. However, this is for a general tutorial. There are other things I do sometimes. Output sharpening at the end is important too. But I would use a different amount depending on the use.

I do dodge and burn in Lighroom. Much easier and more control...
@photoshopcafe
@photoshopcafe 2 жыл бұрын
I like to do it in LR too, but I disagree about control and ease, its subjective, not objective. Maybe because you are used to it? The brushes and pen pressure are much more extensive in PS, as well as the ability to combine adjustment layers and blend modes and use a wider variety of masking tools.
