If you don't like warp, try fish shell. It has syntax highlights, completion hints, fuzzy-search, and vim mode, all out of the box. Fish shell also runs in any emulator, including alacritty and kitty.

Installing warp is a grave mistake and you need an account to even use it, not even talking about all of the telemetry collected by them

I totally second this. How can anyone who is intimate with their terminal, use one which is not open source. I can't trust that terminal at all.

If you like me wondering why the starship config isn't loading in Warp while it is working in iTerm. Edit the prompt you're using for Warp. Goto settings / appearance then change:Warp prompt (default) to PS1 Maybe it's in the vid but then I missed / skipped it :)

I've been partial to Alacritty, Zellij and Sheldon for any ZSH plugins for my terminal setup. Warp seems nice but I like Alacritty's philosophy around being a terminal and nothing more. Zellij handles panes and tabs, Sheldon handles plugins like better coloring, autocomplete and vim mode. Agree that Starship is amazing!

Tip for the future @typecraft: be more upfront with your sponsored videos. You were way too subtle disclosing that you were doing a promotion for Warp, and unfortunately I'm going to have to unsubcribe. To everyone else watching, be careful with Warp. It's closed source, requires a login, and sends a ton of telemetry. For me the terminal is the last place i want a piece of software like that being how sensitive my work in there can be.

Grande Javier! Warp is great. I've been using it since the first release. But still use my iTerm2 for simplicity as well. In Warp you feel like in the code editor with all the tools and edit options, and it's great. But sometimes you want to only have your prompt, and that's it. Moreover, I am sure the Linux guys will be concerned about the Telemetry. But if you are not an advanced user, Warp has everything out of the box.

Nice preso, decent pace, lighting, audio (+voice). Not keen on the jump-cuts, but I'm guessing this is due to making mistakes and re-recording sections, then editing them together? FYI I wouldn't say starship is a replacement for oh-my-zsh, but rather for alt themes such as powerlevel10k. And just set `ZSH_THEME=""` to disable the oh-my-zsh theme. I still like the oh-my-zsh plugins that let me save a few keystrokes, such as typing `..` to go to the parent dir (rather than `cd ..`), `...` to go to the parent-parent dir, etc. I'd looked at starship a while back; it really helped that you took the extra steps to show a nice custom prompt! I've switched over 🙂

Looking nice but it is a no go! First: Closed Source Terminal is not an option, not even for personal use. The amount of secrets in form of passwords or keys you send over here is far too high and the information too sensitive. Second: Why should I need to log in an account for a terminal session - this is not the kind of app i want to share even a bit of over the "open" web. Third: AI will be limited to 20 requests per day oder you have to pay. Sorry - copilot ate that monthly budget already.

It doesn't make any difference, Neovim works the same on any terminal (better to use one that support 24bits colors though for colorschemes, but the three you mentioned do). Now, if you want ligature support and/or image support, you can remove Alacritty from your list. If you want full multi-platform support, you can remove Kitty, which leaves only WezTerm. you don't need Warp's ai, because you can call AI's from the cli and then you make a aliases and functions and scripts to implement your workflow., and bash for instance has an advantage you can have a self-hosted server to store and index your command line history and then install the client in all of your computers and devices and have auto-completion across all your devices based on your own history, without going to warp's private openai instance. have developers forgotten about the power of open source or software libre? Not happy with the Warp recommendation. Please focus on FOSS. That's what I've come to this channel for, and that's what I expect to see. EDIT: Just learned that this was somehow a sponsored video. I'm extremely disappointed with the creator now. EDIT 2: The creator is censoring/deleting comments. Very classy.

What's the problem with sponsored videos, the world is not running on just Foss, yeah ik Foss has a special space in the community

@@Arnav404 Actually, the Internet (and a massive chunk of technology) is run on FOSS. Get your facts straight, my friend.
