Nicole, Would you be in Georgia? There was a gentleman that had a shop here in town. He passed away of old age. 😢 He was such a wealth of knowledge, wisdom, and information when it came to herbs and various natural remedies. His family tried to keep the business going but due to someone else who had a similar business, bad mouthing them, having their orders canceled, ect... they tired of the fight and closed down. I don't say much to anyone about the other business. I did try them for a little while. Felt uncomfortable in their shop. Asked them about reflexology. Their version of it was a foot soak. Which is wrong from the investigating/ researching that I've done. So after that I don't see them anymore.

@HeidiVillegas
@HeidiVillegas Жыл бұрын
Well, no....not at this time. That's because herbs don't work like drugs do....and every body is different. What most herbalists will do, especially if they are knowledgeable and work holistically, is to match the herb with the individual. So many herbs can have broad ranges of use, too. With common remedies, that's different....

I'm trying to make tea using dried fruit and herbs, whats the best way to get the fruit flavor in the tea
@HeidiVillegas
@HeidiVillegas 4 жыл бұрын
Oh....the elusive fruit flavor! :-) This is hard or impossible from just the dried fruit. Most tea makers use an extract of some kind of flavoring. This is why you need to pay close attention to the flavorings in commercial teas---they don't have to share exactly what's in them. What I do is purchase a natural extract (organic) from a quality place---or I'll often make my own and spritz the tea leaves with the extract.

If you're using fresh roses, you can remove the petals, and they'll dry more quickly. You'll know they're dry when they're rather "crisp" but not losing color. The number of days it takes depends on your climate. The more humid, the more days.

Hi, Tammy! Not necessarily. Herbal formulas are often used for immediate relief for acute situations, and they can also be used tonically for more chronic complaints or just for general wellness. You will be getting benefits by drinking herbal teas. The thing is, you need to be aware of the individual's needs, their constitution, and know your intention as well as the herbs you're choosing. I welcome you to join our community by getting on my email list as I share information weekly. My website is another great source of information too, and of course here on KZbin. Here is the blend without mint: bit.ly/2zQnfYZ To make the herbs into a tea instead, just add a little peppermint to the herbal blend for taste and to help your sinuses further and enjoy! But yes, I can certainly do a video on a good breathe tea. ALSO---I have an excellent tea for supporting the lungs that is safe and super helpful for common breathing concerns. www.healingharvesthomestead.com/home/2016/12/27/how-to-make-an-herbal-tea-blend-for-asthma-lung-supportgood-for-children-too?rq=lung

Hi! Honestly, I'd recommend the Confident Herbalist Tribe. We go deeply into learning about the plants; there are 47 masterclasses there now and more to come; and finally, we meet once a week for a live Question Answer chat with me (these are recorded for you, too). We work on different formulations, ask questions about all things herbal, and get answers! Now is a GREAT time to join us because you're grandfathered in at the price you join, and the monthly rate is going up in January. Here's a link to take a look: healingharvesthomestead.teachable.com/p/the-confident-herbal-tribe

When you are talking about rose petals. Can you use any rose petal? Or just certain types of roses?
@HeidiVillegas
@HeidiVillegas 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Valerie! You can use any rose petals...but just be sure they are unsprayed. DON'T use the floral ones...as these are some of the most sprayed plants ever. Use organic petals or those you can verify are unsprayed. :-)

For a small batch, start with a tablespoon as a measurement. That will give you an idea about proportions, and you can always increase the measurement part. :-)

Yes---any rose petals are just fine as long as they're organic OR organically grown. This is important because roses are one of the most heavily sprayed crops in the world.

I have a question! I’ve been making my own tea blends but when you make a blend do you only still use a teaspoon up to a tablespoon per cup? I guess I’m asking because will you get the potency you want per herb? Take elderberry for cold and flu season for example. If the bag of elderberry says a teaspoon per cup but I put it in a blend.. I wouldn’t technically be getting a teaspoon per cup of just elderberry if I put it in a blend. Does that matter?
@HeidiVillegas
@HeidiVillegas 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it definitely matters. The amount of herb you use, especially when blending for therapeutic reasons, matters a great deal. The other factor that makes a huge difference is the infusion time. A strong infusion may need to steep for several hours or even over night, depending on the herbs used and your specific needs. :-)

Hi Heidi, is lemon balm safe for people with thyroid issues or should I substitute it for something else for this blend? Blessings to you and your family! 🌹🌸🏵
@HeidiVillegas
@HeidiVillegas Жыл бұрын
You know? That's a great Q. Some people with low T do have sensitivities to lemon balm. Others I've come across don't. You can certainly substitute it, though! Milky oats is a nice sub for relaxation and nervous system support that's gentle. I can't remember if the oats are already in the recipe (it's been a couple of years), but you can simply add more if you like. That's very wonderful, safe herb.

Do you have suggestions on where we should buy bulk herbs?
@HeidiVillegas
@HeidiVillegas 4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, I sure do, as I've purchased from a number of places. My favorite places to buy bulk herbs, to be honest, are small local herb farmers. See if there is one near you. Often you can find them selling at farmer's markets with an online shop. Next up for quality is Starwest Botanicals. I love this shop of all the bulk herb stores I've tried. Amazon is an absolute last pick, and so are any local shops in your city. This is because the turnover often isn't great enough for the herbs to retain their quality. Here's an aff link to Starwest, in case you want to check them out: bit.ly/StarBot
