How to make your own Darth Vader Belt Box From Scratch.

YEP! I've been a "Costumer/Sewer/Prop Maker/Pattern Maker" for most of my life! My VERY FIRST was a WereWolf costume for Halloween. When I was 12 I saw "STAR WARS" in 1977 for the FIRST TIME and when I saw DARTH VADER I was like "WOW! HE Is a NEXT LEVEL BAD ASS!" And I wanted a Screen Accurate DARTH VADER COSTUME! But I also knew back then that it would be VERY Expensive {Remember I was only 12 then!} And so... I've had to wait until NOW. NOW At age 56... I am ALMOST Done with my "SCREEN ACCURATE ESB/RofJ DARTH VADER Costume for the local 501st.! I can't WAIT till COVID is done so we can get BACK to doing these fun things! :D

Great video thanks for sharing , I've used some aluminium valve caps for the silver knobs they were £4.99 for 12 on Amazon and I just had to put them in a drill and sand the pattern off the sides and polish them up they worked out great might help someone else out .

I cut out the rectangle the size of the pipe and glued in with e6000. The rectangle was slightly small so it nipped the pipe

Question, already have a belt, but the boxes are kind of just dangling and not centered, whats the distance between the buckle and the belt box on either side? Please and thank you

Hey Cosplay Vicar, quick question on the green buttons - the black bezel/surround on those you link are lower down on the long edges, and are more flush with the top of the button on the short edges. However, the buttons in your video do not have this, rather the surround is the same lower height all the way around. Did you mod them, and if so what was your process? Thank you!

I removed the green push button and sanded down the black surround and then glued the button back in place. It’s not supported to be a working button anyway. A friend of mine cut his back with a very sharpe craft knife. I knew I would cut myself that way so opted for sanding.

Do your red lights have the chrome ring/bezel behind them? I know some people say it is present on the ROTJ boxes and not on ESB and some say it is on both. I purchased the red LEDS in the link you supplied and they don't have the bezel so debating whether to put them in as or not.

I do not believe ESB has them. From my research I decided that was a Jedi change.

@@Cosplayvicar Interesting. It's the same with the Black bases for the green arcade lights. Everyone swears they are beveled but my hd screen grabs give me no yes or no either way. I am going to do the same as you did and just purchase the ones in your link and sand them down. I'm sure that when my Vader is complete,a 10 year old kid is not going to give a damn!

I've managed to source most parts, minus lights, battery pack, Velcro, and the buckle. For £73. The buckle has shot up in price to £60, so if anyone can point me to a 3d printed version that I can Velcro on as a temp, until I can figure out how to machine my own, that would be much appreciated. I'm not going for 501st but I would like to get there eventually, swapping out each piece as I go. Been a member of the sith forums for a few years now, never got deep into it as the cost has always put me off. Also if anyone wants the recent links, let me know.

How were you able to attach the boxes to the belt? Ive seen people use velcro inside the box cover ( for future adjustments), bolted the belt to the back cover , and even wedged in-place again for adjustment.

Mine is held by half pressure fit and half by a small dot of Velcro. The pressure fit works well for future adjustments.

I have the same issue when going from USA to UK. My suggestion is cut the item name into your preferred website and find where they are sold in your country. Most of the items comes from China anyway.

I've been able to find all of these items on eBay to ship to the U.S. but there are some caveats... The Red LED Lens cover is missing the chrome ring around the bottom. The Green buttons are supposed to be rectangular. They are listed as "Square" on the British site, but they are actually rectangular (look at the picture). You can purchase them from the British site, but If you are looking for them on the American eBay site, look for this: "16mm Rectangle Latching Push Button Switch Self-reset Illuminated LED 5Pin DC12V". They are $2.99 each. Be careful though because there is another version that are rectangular and are $26.57 each. I don't know what the difference is but you definitely want the cheaper ones since you're going to gut them anyway. You can also find the Clear PVC Reinforced Flexible Braided Vinyl Tube/Hose on the American eBay but you want to make sure to get the 3/16 Inside Diameter. You can get a foot for $5.49 with free shipping. I hope this helps you.
