I hope Kelsey doesn't feel bashed by the negative comments about the blue! Picking a color can be really stressful and sometimes you just gotta try something to see what works and what doesn't. You both have an amazing sense of style and at the same time I'm impressed by the way you don't shy away from revisiting projects like this.

The arch doors would look cool in a white washed wood colour or black! I feel like the door is too warm with the cool tone of the walls! But I do like the texture and lime wash look! I think the grey tone works with the floors and kitchen as you said :)

I'm going to start off by saying I was one of the few who actually liked the blue wall. I thought it was a bold, cheery choice for that entryway! I also love the lime wash. I've always loved that technique. My only issue now is that I LOVED the beige color the wall before that final coat! Now the doors look dingy and like they should be painted black to match the cool tone of the paint?⁷

I agree about the blue! I always get faked out when they start to hype a "crazy" color and it is just a new version of brown or beige 😁 I love watching their videos because they are inspiring, boss, diy babes but I know their style isn't for me. The blue wall was absolutely my vibe but not really their's.

I feel like the door could be a cool toned green or like a burnt sienna color, or even gold! It feels like the space isn't finished yet. It's difficult because it's a transitional space. Maybe some large curtains with tie backs can tie the spaces together by breaking them up enough with a different texture and weight
@sidneywilson8080

See since a lot liked the blue still I’m wondering if they should paint the door blue! Not the same blue in my opinion, the color wasn’t exactly my taste personally. But Benjamin Moore had a new dark blue, almost black, color for colors of 2022 and it would look amazing as a pop of color for the door frame.
@wellhello1603
@wellhello1603 2 жыл бұрын
Beige definitely looked better, blended in with the door so well. I think the problem with gray and blue previously was that door is warmer/yellower color, which makes door look completely separate from the wall. They don’t blend into each other nicely, but look like 2 different objects from different projects. Especially in a space with so many textures, styles, colors, tones, it’s important to tie everything together. Colors aren’t complimentary in my opinion. Beige was perfect with that interesting texture.

To be honest, I like the first coat (the lighter version) much better. The final result looks like a concrete wall, which is great. But since you have such tall ceiling and tall white walls around, it seems like you have a concrete wall wrapped in a regular white walls. It looks a little weird.

I agree with the sea of beige everyone is doing. What is going on?? It's like 1970's office cubicle colors all over and I hate it. Beige is great in moderation but right now everyone is wearing it and decorating with it so it looks like some vintage movie about what a future space ship should look like. or maybe the cave house Luke Skywalker grew up in??

I think the windows and door would look good in a charcoal black (something similar to the cabinet next to the wall) as they still don't quite go with the cement gray (maybe the gray looks different in person). But it's better than the blue. It looked like a lot of work to redo this wall. Wow! Colour is so hard to pick out so don't be hard on yourselves. We've all been there repainting the same wall two or three times!!! LOL

I actually loved that blue. I think the reason it didn't fully work was because the windows didn't have any trim. The door was so contrasting against that blue, that the windows got lost and fel like holes, and there was no transition between the bright wall and the muted tones from the other room. Becky, it was a good color!

Hi ladies! I love everything you guys do! The "blue" was a bold piece statement from all the neutrals that you are working with at the studio. I worked at an office were the front door was yellow, the working bench was that type of blue and every time I came to the office feeling down; those colors made my day so much brighter.... I love bold and bright colors so I thought that that blue was perfect. But yes that lime color looks good, and the explanation even better... hopefully you guys dont shy away from trying more bold colors...

14:36 I actually LOVED the way the wall looked when some of the paint was dry, and some of it wasn't - like marble, but not really. I love the final color as well, but it would have looked *amazing* if you could make that same effect but in a way that's permanent!!!

I AM HERE TO SAY I LOVED THE BLUE!! BUT - the lime wash really does make all the colors and tones SO COHESIVE! GREAT WORK

I do prefer this colour and the texture. The only thing is the edges of the wall, unrelated to the colour. Maybe quarter round as a border to help the edges look cleaner and the wall to look more integrated

Am I the only one seeing hints of the blue at the edge of the door still? I think they need to take the doors off and paint them a cooler color to match the wall better and when they do they can detail the door frame

The blue was one of the few wall colors y'all have used that I actually LIKED.

I feel like the blue would have been so awesome if the rest of the space also had deep, jewel tone colors throughout it. But because the rest of the space is mostly neutrals, it didn’t match quite as well. I think this matches better. (Though I do prefer deeper colors throughout than neutrals, but that’s just me)

I literally was hoping for them to make it a textured wall like a stone wall or something because of the door. Cottagecore vibes. So satisfied with this makeover. But I hope Kelsey doesn't feel bad. Don't stop, Kelsey!

My stomach just dropped, I got the sickest feeling. That blue wall was my absolute favorite part of your studio. I was so happy when you painted an actual color, a beautiful color in there. I'm an artist and have been an art teacher for over 27 years and I am so tired, exhausted of neutrals. Beiges grays tans browns pale yellows. The world is full of such beautiful colors and it's like they've been killed. It breaks my heart it literally breaks my heart. My bedroom is the most beautiful purple you've ever seen, my bathroom is the most beautiful ocean blue, my kitchen is an aqua that just makes you feel alive. The rest of my house is white bright white all the trim is white all the crown molding everything. I live in a world of color. My art room is so full of color all my students over the years have just loved that room and feel so good in it because it's full of colors that turn on your imagination that makes your heart feel good not blah blah blah depressing neutrals. it's like shutting your brain off. Okay I'm venting. And someday this neutral palette will go away and people will have color again. But that wall made me happy and now it's still a beautiful door and beautiful windows but now it has sad color. I don't even think of neutrals is being color anymore they are the lack of color the absence of joy. When I moved into my house the entire house ceiling walls everything was a light tan. If it wasn't such an amazing house I would have shrieked and ran away. But I fixed it it's alive with color and life. Oh and all the carpet in my house is green. And to those of you who can't imagine it every single person who comes in my house absolutely loves it and wishes that they were brave enough to paint their house like mine and choose a beautiful Green carpet that goes with everything!

It turned out great! I think this fits so much better in the studio! When you said it needs a porous surface to paint first, I thought, "Oh no, she's going to plaster that whole wall." Glad to see you just needed a certain primer! lmao You did a great job!

The limewash texture is great and it was cool to learn how to DIY it. Thank you! I think the door needs to be repainted now. A fresh cooler white or creme, black/charcoal, or maybe one of the colors from the new meeting room mural would be cool. To be honest, I'm over warm-toned everything.

I like how it looked before you added the grey at the end. Doesn't go with the color of the inside door and doesn't blend well with the colors in the next room. Sorry! It looked better as a warmer tone.

The lime wash is a really neat technique. I agree with a lot of the commenters that the beige doors need to be painted black. I love the use of colour and really like when you two add colour to a space. 💖
