Btw: There's a really good reason why range hoods are usually made from materials like metal and glass. They're not flammable. MDF and dry wall on the other hand are. There's lots of old grease in a range hood, so when you have a kitchen fire, it gets really hot really fast. Good luck to you. Stay safe.

You're just naturally gifted! The stone backsplash was the perfect upgrade to give the room a natural earthy quality. Their rounded shapes & shades of blush contribute a slight feminine influence. The cabinet color increased the brightness & expanded the impression of the room's size. The creamy beige undertones reflect warmth & compliment the dark elements. Hiring a professional painting service was a wise decision. It's the most valuable part of the project & worth the splurge to invest in quality. You have an intuitive eye for design projects. Modifying the ranger hood & putting glass in 2 door panels was a huge improvement. It gave the room a statement focal point & completely updated the style. Making the 2 small book shelves & peg rack are subtle additions that impact the space with charming visual interest. A comparison of changes in the before & after is most impressive. Every detail serves a purpose. The overall composition is on point, it's balanced to scale, the contrast of the color palette is classic & the juxtaposition of textures is perfect. The finished look fits the space perfectly, it's up to date with current design trends & has a sophisticated, elegant appeal that suits your vibe!

Professional drywall finisher here! We call the "all-purpose drywall/joint compound" mud. Like, "hey, could you scoop me some more mud?" And for the corner bead, it's not really to protect corners? When drywall (aka sheetrock) is put up on an outward corner, like your new vent hood, the ends of the sheets create a little gap where they meet. The corner bead is put on to make the corner look smoother, and you would *never* forego corner bead. The part that's metal is because it's a material that won't be soaked with wet mud and sink/bubble into the gap as mentioned before. The paper flaps are specific to that type of bead so that you're able to apply mud on the sheetrock and then put on the corner bead. There's another type of corner bead that's just metal and you have to staple it onto the sheetrocked corner, it's much more difficult than the paper/metal type. And as a tip, if your mud is too thick to use, just mix it in with a little water to make it a "thinner" consistency and have it apply smoother. It's a lot easier on the wrists. And ten layers of mud?? Oh no no no. You really just need three layers, maybe four for touch-ups. But the vent hood looks great! You did a great job with the kitchen! :)

Huge difference! I really love the cupboards and everything but don't love the shape of the hood with the cupboards and crown molding. Like another commenter said, it also seems like a fire hazard to have that there. I'd take it out and replace with metal like the dishwasher, just something more fitting.

Wowww! amazing Becky! the stone tiles are beautiful and really work so lovely with the colours and tones of the room. Glad you went for the Black hood the white stood out in a too bright way against the cabinets. I think this might be the most impressive Diy so far
