I have been doing this since 1969. Bravo!!! And to those who don’t have this budget, I created a great little system in 1976 with a ten gallon tank, duckweed, rocks, gravel and minnows from a local Pennsylvania creek in the USA. The highest tech for lighting at the time was a twin bulb fluorescent shop light which I went crazy on and spent $10 for a pair of newly invented plant bulbs. My dad, an engineer, would lie on my bed on Sunday afternoons and watch the duckweed swirl in the gentle current as the minnows rafted up in the shade of the plants. I used a twig cut to length to corral the duckweed toward the rear of the tank surface water. The minnows would dart out to feed or explore and retreat back into the bubbles and shade of the back of the tank. Not expensive. Not complicated and very repeatable. Again, BRAVO!! Perfecto!

As always you make beautiful tanks. However, I must comment on the filter setup. One should always get all mechanical filtration done before it hits the biomedia, so in my humble opinion the fine pad should go directly behind the coarse sponge. Speaking of the coarse sponge, seen as you already got one on the intake, you could do away with the one in the filter altogether. That said, I'm guessing you put the fine pad on top for ease of access?

Awesome videos! Awesome step by step filming and editing! I’ve been doing a planted tank for about 15 years now. Started with very little knowledge or modern day equipment like today. Started with root tabs and regular gravel, compact fluorescent lights, and diy co2. Today: dirted, LEDs, and co2 regulator. After watching YOUR videos, especially the “lost world” series, you got this high tech aqua enthusiast to get a back to basics low tech nano tank. And to be honest, I enjoy the new tank more than my larger original tank. Amazing how this hobby has turned around. I just wanted to extend my personal gratitude to you for inspiring me to try something new in this hobby. I’m glad technology like YT is out there, and people like you are inspiring this hobby to others who would get a better (and faster) education on the set up of these lost worlds ;) Thank you for dedicating your time and effort. It does go on noticed by us silent majority. Wish you more success in the future.
