The black & white xpan subway pages were really good and surprising. This kind of layout would make a great zine/book on its own.

FRAN FAN HERE! I'm a photographer/ illustrator looking for a new way to keep sane in this new pandemic world. I've been mulling around the idea of a Zine for a while now but I wasn't sure what my subject would be. Now that I have something, I have no idea how best to accomplish my goal. So glad I found this vid. It's gold, Ed. You guys truly are a treasure!

Ed, what's your favorite focal length? Would love to see a video on this maybe talk about what's your favorite focal length and lenses and when do you use or like to use them for and your sample images and maybe a day with you shooting with that. Thanks!
@drfdwf3926 жыл бұрын
@MrBusytimmy hahaha believe me, you got the wrong guy to tell this. I'm not obsessed with gears like most people. All my lenses are vintage / cine full manual lenses. I just asked him because I was just curious what's his personal favourite perspective. Just personal taste. Not about the gear so I could buy it or anything. I don't have a gear lust. I've learned to be a minimalist. I don't obsess over latest gears or youtubers. I even consume the internet mindfully. So please take your preaching somewhere else. Thanks.

Me gustó mucho tu video, Ed. ¡Felicitaciones!

Hey man, I really like your channel and enjoy your experience so much. I’m a graphic designer from China and would like to share with your why they force you to print 48 pages in total, It because the binding book has to be done with A multiple of 4. Sorry but your tank is not a Paterson-Tank. The tank you are using is so hard to open when your hands are wet. That works much better with a paterson tank. Nevertheless I use the film-holder rolls especially for medium format because of the broad entry for the film. These in combination is my system after several attempts.

All right :) So the company is called Drukwerkdeal.nl, and for zines you'll need this category: www.drukwerkdeal.nl/nl/producten/brochures-magazines There you can choose your method of binding: glued ('gelijmd'), stapled (' geniet') and wire-o ('wire-o'). Once you've chosen a binding method, you select your size (' Kies het eindformaat'), your printing method ('Kies de bedrukking'), your paper or material ('Kies het materiaal'), the weight of your paper ('Kies het gewicht', and remember: heavier is thicker), the number of pages including the cover ('Kies het aantal pagina's', anything from 8 to 60), choose your cover ('Kies het cover') and perhaps a fancy finish ('Kies de afwerking'). Next you'll see a table with prices and how many zines you want to print. Prices vary on how quick you want it done. You can order anywhere from 1 to 5000, or even more if you give us a call. You then get an overview of your choices. Check them, add to cart and finish your payment. After that, you can deliver your files. We'll check them automatically and have them delivered to you in a couple of days :) Sorry if this is a bit of a long reply, but I figured you could use some explanation for a Dutch site ;) If anyone has any questions, just ask!

¿Has pensado en usar LaTeX para hacer tus zines?
@alchemistalchemist60516 жыл бұрын
I know it's late, but LaTeX would just be a pain for a zine. It is made for rigid and consistent content organization which is awesome for maths reports etc, but will be very limiting for a zine where you are looking for creative arrangement of text and pictures :)

Let's say that you're a street photographer or you're photographing a political rally, how much privacy does the subjects in the photo have? Are you a trust fund kid or something? Selling a lot of books is never a bad thing, even photographers need to eat and pay bills too (and of course those expensive gears). Being popular doesn't mean you're a sell out, it means people actually appreciate your photos and your skill. Also it's a honest job and income.
@edpavez6 жыл бұрын
You didn’t get the idea. The message is: “don’t be alarmed if you don’t sell inmediately”. You need time to build an audience and a steady income. I’m actually saying the same as you, but from the perspective of somebody who is starting and wants instant gratification and fame: it doesn’t work like that.
