I have been doing the same thing for a couple years now. Way cheaper than the store-bought bags and I like that I can control the quality and mixture. Great job love your videos looking forward to the dahlia walk-through this year when they are in full bloom!

This is a very good idea if you can source good clean compost. The stuff they’ve been selling was very bad this year and last. High salts, disease, herbicide residue, and completely raw manure that smells fresh out of the cow. For all those flowers you buy, we start about 3x that. Potting soil at costco or wherever has been crap (literally).

A little bit of soap, or other surfactant will allow the peat to absorb water.
@lawnrebel2 жыл бұрын
🤔. Good to know
@garrettscott40942 жыл бұрын
@@lawnrebel we normally mix peat in a tub or container where we can mix it. Just put in like a tablespoon of soap in a 5 gallon bucket of water. Mix it but don't make it bubble up. Pour it on and mix up the peat, and bing bang boom your peat it wet.

Folks have been using well rotted manures in gardens for a very long time. If you are concerned about eating raw vegetables grown with manure there are commercial manures that are heat treated.
