I am thankful that you did this. I wanted to make rice and beans and it was some time since I had made it last and when I did, I found that I was allergic to the msg in the sazon. So I thank you for this, now I can enjoy the foods that I grew up with.
@georgcantor71722 жыл бұрын
How can you be allergic to monosodium glutamate (MSG)? It contains one atom of sodium (Na) ionically bonded to one molecule of glutamic acid. Sodium is needed by all cells in the body to live, and glutamic acid is used by the body to make glutamine, which is an essential amino acid for survival.

I love the amount of each ingredient in your recipe, it’s very balanced. Sazón packets are mostly msg and food coloring. They have such a small amount of the other ingredients you can’t taste them. So you are getting the color from the yellow and red food coloring instead of the achiote. Just buy some msg and compare the taste to sazón packets and you will see they taste almost exactly alike.

Hello, I’m a Puerto Rican from NYC that has recently moved to New Zealand. I’m running out of the Sazon I brought with me in my suitcase but I’m running out fast! I’m looking to make Sazón without Annatto (the white box). It’s what I use on all my meats without it turning red. Do I do the same steps just without Annatto or is there a special way or substitute to get the flavor? Please help and thanks!
@anewyoricanthingkitchen11952 ай бұрын
Hi , really not sure but removing the annatto and the paprika will remove the red color, since annatto has no real flavor the other ingredients in the homemade sazon should work. Let me know how it turns out I

@anewyoricanthingkitchen11954 жыл бұрын
Hi I don't use cumin in rice and beans it's not a good flavor in my opinion however I don't think my sazon needs all of that extra stuff because sofrito is what is really going to gi your rice and beans flavor. Originally we just used annato seeds to color the rice. Sofrito is the star!

@anewyoricanthingkitchen11955 жыл бұрын
Recipes vary by region or preference and you could definitely omit the salt.
@Cruxador4 жыл бұрын
"Sazón" just means "seasoning" or basically. Like "curry" or "adobo". It's a kind of mix that shares basic characteristics but there are always going to be variations locally. As for what is and isn't, although some cases are obvious there are likely cases that people would disagree on exact classifications but then most people wouldn't worry about it too much since the term isn't that specific to begin with.
