How to make your own Universal Studios Intro in Blender 2.8 in less than 10 minutes

The Clip was made with Blender 2.82 and Eevee- using screen space reflections and shadows as well as volumetrics and loads of compositing.
This time around, I tried to make the process of customizing your own intro as easy as possible and now there are far less steps then last time. Also, thanks to Eevee, the animation renders a lot faster. And it looks a lot better, but decide for yourself.

For the people trying to select the letter do this 1. Select with ur mouse the letters 2. change the OBJECT MODE to EDITE MODE on the left corner of the screen u can find the option 3. move the mouse over the letter u want and press the letter L just once every time you have the mouse over every letter 4. press at the same time G and X to move the letter :D

William Waters At first you have to switch into edit mode.. Then you can hover your cursor over the mesh of the letter that you want to select and press the “l” (Small L) button on your keyboard. The mesh is selected now. After creating My model, My PC needed around 23 hours to render the animation in for quality. You can cut down your render time substantially by using the first half of the actual universal video and only rendering the section which uses your logo. It took my PC 2.5 hours to render frames 190 -> 600

If you are getting all black after rendering, it’s because you are probably trying to render a point in the video where it is fading in or out. Try rendering at a point in the middle of the video.

For people who have the bug of letters not showing up. Just go to the inspector and activate the camera icon next to the letters so that they are taken into account when rendering. He do it at 1:05 but it wasn't very easy to see it. Sorry if my english is not really good, i use a translator

Hey, make sure you have the render visibility changed correctly (at about 1:09 in the tutorial), right now that's the only thing I can think of why it's not working with your scene

Unfortunately, it seems the G is broken on the font. It doesn't look broken on the preview, but the render has a little line extending to infinity that's quite noticeable. The word I'm using has two Gs and both of them have the same problem.

Hi, I think there is an error with the letter "G" in your Letters layer. If you turn the bevel on the "Realtime" button for that layer and put the letter "G" onto the Armature, you will notice a strange protrusion at around Frame 298. All the other letters seem fine, though... just the letter "G" is the issue. Could you please fix that?

Try rendering at 540. The reason you are getting all black is because the video fades out at the end.

Alex, you need to take a TOI on this. You seems to a pretty smart guy, and I loved your creations. We are not that familiar with blender, but would like to learn the nitty gritty. While your tutorial looks simple, it is pretty complex for beginners to digest the few key strokes you do. Example, when you select the UNIVERSAL and try to add your own letters, while clicking on L and selecting the letters sounds easy, how can we delete them and just type the letters we want to display. It's because you are in object mode. You have to switch into edit mode to be able to select the letters (with a purple background as shown in the video) there is a little icon on the screen "object mode", click it then select edit mode and you will be able to start the process.

I found how to do it, and thanks to the following tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYutpKqsrJ6qe9U It's not difficult, you have to know that it has to be made by moving the "starting keyframe" located at frame 510 and the "final keyframe" located at frame 537 (27 frames of distances between them). One a big window select the DOPE SHEET view and click the item "Letters and Earth", then "Composition Nodetree" up to the last "predefined value (Fac)". At the frame 510 you will find the "starting keyframe" you have to anticipate. Select with the mouse the "starting keyframe" and move it to the preferred frame (I choose the frame number 470). Then go to the frame 537 and move the "final keyframe" around 30 frames after your new "initial frame" (I choose the frame number 495). That's all!

Unless I am mistaken, this .blend file does not work with BLENDER 2.82! 8 GB not enough? After checking, it works, even with BLENDER 3.1.2. But you have to have a lot of memory, I went to 32 GB and I increased the cache memory to 25600. But I still can't finish the video. And, once the letters have been modified, it is impossible for the spaces between the letters to be equal and it can do this automatically ? Woops....Ok I'm a beginner with Blender Great my test is finally done. Too bad, unless I'm mistaken, no music. On the other hand about 30 hours to do it hard hard. Is it possible to render just one frame of it without the universum background? So like the background is transparent and there is only the text and the earth

Thanks so much for that, but after rendering, when the letters passed over the world, they turn semitransparent, what is the problem?. Psdt: To save time I had to render it in AVI. Thank you more if you answer me.

I made the intro now, and I had the same problem... unfortable I noticed it too late. I got frustradet cause I knew what the problem was. It is because you did not activate "Letters Black" to render. For that you have to activate "Volume" got to "Letters Black" and klick on the camera symbol next to it. Then start to render the project again from frame 196... this is where the letters come in. You have too start from there because the letters look different from behind too. So if you would start from the point where the letters come in front of the earth, the look of the letters would change and everybody will notice that.

How do I know either that I can see the rendered animation is finished? (after 36 hours, the MKV-file 0001-0600.mkv has Zero bytes!)

Sorry but I couldn't use your tutorial because the blend can't work without your texture files. They are missing. Can you share them to us ?
