TUTORIAL: 20th Century Fox Intro HD

Easy tutorial on how to make your own Twentieth Century Fox styled intro. More below...
Here is explained how to make your own custom 20th Century Fox intro using only Blender 2.79b. It is very easy you just need to donwload the files at Link1 and download Blender 2.79b at Link2 and follow my instructions. If you're good, it shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes to edit it. Have fun with it, and please link back to me if you post it.

• Right click on the text to select it.
• Press the DEL-key and left click to confirm.
• Press the TAB-key to start editing.
• Edit
• Press the TAB-key to stop editing.
• Left click and drag the red and green squares to resize.
• Change to moving mode by left clicking the arrow.
• Select multiple objects by holding SHIFT and right clicking.
• Left click and drag the red and green arrows to move the object.
• Click File, Save As, and save your project file.
• Choose your desired resolution (leave it at Render Presets: HDTV 1080p for best quality)
• Choose your desired output format (leave it at H.264 for best compatibility)
• Click Animation
• Wait for a few hours.
• The file is by default saved to the folder where you unzipped the template files.
Fix flickering: • FIX: Flickering letter...
Pausing the render:
To pause the blender render, click Window, then Toggle System Console. Then press the pause (or break) key on your keyboard. To resume, hit enter. Do NOT shutdown your computer or close the program. Leave it open, and you can put the computer to sleep and resume afterwards.

@mice madrigal You cannot reduce the number of frame, you would only have part of a video. But you reduce the resolution (default 1920x1080) to something like (1280x720).

Yes. There are 600 frames. It takes me around 6 hours on a very fast CPU.

@spore637 Yes, I've fixed the audio. Somehow blender cut off the last second of the audio. Just redownload the template and it should be fine.

If you use my render settings, it render at Full HD 16:9. You can set the resolution in the render screen to the right.

It normally takes around 10 hours. You can look at the frame number to watch when the file is finished. (600 frames in total) The file is called 0001-0600.avi and by default located in the same folder as the .blend files.

@FREAKYspongy Render means it saves what you made into an movie file. If you didn't press save, it just means you didn't save the blender file, but if you let it render, you should end up with your intro (and you can always save the blender file afterwards.)

@ThedooLG The programs needs to calculate (processing through the CPU) the "raw" materials, e.g. light-shadow results. As to exactly how that works, you would have to look it up, but it is highly CPU depended (cores and frequency). What CPU do you have, for it only to take four hours?

Do not change the render settings. It is set to encode in H.264. You can also compress it afterwards. use my TUTORIAL: Rendering...

You can bring them back by clicking the small handle like icon in the "taskbar" of the 3d view.

If you want to be sure, you can try to change it to something like C:\ and then render to there. The file should appear after a the first frame has been appended.

You can use mpg, but I recommend avi. You can always recode it afterwards (i've got a tutorial for that too).

Get the files for 2.49b and blender 2.49b (links are below the video on my page).

@marm1010 In the render Tab (the one with the Image and Animation buttons), go to the right and click on Encoding. then at the bottom of that, there's a audio codec field.

If no settings were changed, it should render as an H.264 video file. If you have a lot of jpeg files, you can put them together in a sequence with any compositing program (Adobe After Effects would be the easiest) and then speed it up.

You can use any program. Windows Live Movie Maker is the easiest one (if it won't import, convert it using XMedia Recode to WMV first). The music file is included in the download folder.

Under "Output" you can specify the location of the file. It may be different on a Mac, so try specifying another path.
