When you say you pinch the ends... what exactly you mean? Do you pinch of the thin layer it has at the end?

I’d also like to know what that means. Seems she didn’t pinch hard enough to break it off, but I’m guessing it will stop that stem’s growth so the plant can focus its energy on the other undamaged ones. So you can direct the shape it grows into

'Pinching' = 'Pruning' Cutting back POTHOS 🪴 will trigger growth throughout the vine and it will also send itself signals that it can begin to develop growth in other areas where growth was not taking place To fully demonstrate, she would have completely detached the stem, near the node The NODE is where an entirely new plant can be born

I think she means she pinches off the new growth at the ends (meristem tissue). It stimulates growth in other ways, I suppose? I know it’ll create the potential for the end to branch off into two or more new growth points. But idk if it’ll affect the root growth, and thus, overall health too

Pinching newest growth. It pushes auxins to the new emd to start a growth point. In yhe pticess some will go to other nodes and can caise the plant to push growth points futher back, which will fill out the plant. Also a good way to help the plant push more roots.

Ya, I wondered about the roots on that stem she planted as well. If she did some cuttings and then propagated them in water as I do, then that would create roots, but I don't think she said that's what she did exactly.

Yeah that confused me as well! Those roots don’t look like the ones I’ve propagated in water, they look like potted roots to me but I’m still a beginner with pothos and propagation so I don’t really know. I’m also curious about how the pinching helps…

After it roots you don't need to cut them back but it may be helpful if you are planting it back in a tight spot to do some light trimming.

My pathos is about 13 or so feet long. I have it trading the wall of my very natural lit bathroom. Lately the end leaves are yellowing and then dying. Could you suggest what i might do to help it? The plant is only about 6 years old.

Hopefully it's not a lot. Just pull them out. They're old leaves. You'll soon get more new growth

Pothos grow in full black mud in the forest here. As soon as it snakes its way to a tree it climbs up. The tree is its friend.
