Love the Wicked Cushions when it comes to comfort. But man, I do wish they made larger inner diameter cushions for us people with them big ole ears.

Good stuff. I'll keep these in mind. The pads on my Maxwell wore out. I replaced them with WC and have no regrets. I prefer leather, but cooling pads/fabric earpads are far more durable.

How long did the maxwells last you?

@@XxKentokixX About a year and half of heavy use. I had no issues with the stock pads. But they do run warm. The WC are great, they don't mess with the frequency too much, which was a big worry of mine.. I did buy a pair of Dekoni Elite Sheepskin, which should be closer to stock, while being more durable. The Maxwell headset itself has no issue. It has stood the test of time. Only the Steel Series Nova Pro wireless come close IMO.

@@XxKentokixX It depends on the user I guess. I treat every piece of tech I own like I just unboxed it.. Every headphone/headset I own has its own hanger or hard-shell case for the really expensive ones. It's tempting to use a headset like the Maxwell for casual use outdoors, but I would advise against it. I saw one YTber complain his pear broke after wearing them to the gym... What did he think would happen? I'm not saying people aren't carful, they're just not mindful. Every interaction i have with the Maxwell. i remind myself I'm wearing a piece of $300 equipment on my head. I don't attempt to wear them around my neck, like a DJ, or rip them off like a maniac. I'm overly careful to the point where if my phone drops from 2 feet (which is rare). I have a heart attack. The only headset that ever broke on me were the OG PlayStation Pulse Elite for the PS3. Otherwise it's normal wear and tear, driver dying, or headband and ear pads wearing out.

What about the sound signature (apart from the distance issue) ? Are lows increased ? Is there a big difference in comfort between the full leather and the cool one ?

Yes it pulls the drivers away, resulting in everything being a pinch and very small pinch reduced. But when I turned them up a notch or two, they sounded the exact same. As for comfort, well yes the calling gel is cooler, and the cloth around ear is much more comfy, rather than the hot pleather. Density is about the same.

Nova pros are good on console. Both ps5 and xbox. I just got them a few weeks ago

For single-player games with natural and expansive sound, PC38x no doubt. - Pros: open-back, great natural sound-tuning, good soundstage, good directionality (can pinpoint where sound comes from), light, relatively cheap for the sound quality it provides. - Cons: leaks sound (in and out), lacks bass if you're into bass heavy music, wired, plastic build, a bit tight clamp force initially (lessens w/ time). For wireless, SS Nova 7X has lots of features and compatible with all platforms (PC, Xbox, PS, Switch, mobile) is probably the safest bet.

AUNE AR5000 is fantastic for music and gaming. wired though, but easy to drive. It's also open back.

I know this isn’t related to the video per say but I have currently Astro a20 gen 2s for ps5. I watched your review on these and the turtle beach stealth 600 gen 2s I believe they are called and you had so much more better things to say about them then these Astro a20s. I’m going to go switch them out hopefully in a couple of hours from where I bought them at. Am I making the right choice?. I feel as I need my Astros really loud to hear foot steps and I have a friend who uses the turtles and he hears things better then I do when I play with him.
