lol i worked at a detail shop years ago i remember talking to a kid that always used tire shine on the mats looked great but slippery af. well one day we were standing by the big bay door watching an older man pick up his truck. next thing i see is his feet in the air and him back on the ground with cries of pain. we both ran over quickly to help. he had the wind knocked out of him but other than some dirt on the back he was fine. well long story short that was the last Mark ever used tire shine again on mats.
@michaelof2000 Жыл бұрын
Did he spray it 5 mins before pickup? 😂 using the tire shine isn’t a bad idea, actually a good one. Spraying that or a “Vinyl,Leather,Rubber” spray and letting it dwell for around 10-15 mins (the longer the better tbh, if right amount is sprayed). Using those types of sprays are softening and loosening the rubber itself, not just the mud and dirt. When the rubber is that deeply stained with dirt, at that point you’re loosening said dirt (which is now the rubber). When the rubber is freshly soft and loosened, that’s when it’s the easiest to clean. That’s when you spray your APC, Degreaser, or whatever hard cleaner you’re using, and then agitate. I even spray another round of the VLR and soften it up even more before the final rinse to make it even easier.

After towel drying I’ve been using 303. Not too slick. Not too glossy. May wanna give it a go. CG product looks good but I’d feel crazy buying a dedicated mat cleaner. Thanks for your review.

I pressure spray, use chemical guys interior clean and scrub with soft brush, pressure spray to clean off, then reapply with a 1:1 VRP/water dilute rub out with microfiber. I like how it turns out on my weather tech and rubber/plastic mats. I decided to make my own spray dilution that I like for my mats and engine detail.

I use the Chemical Guys product. It’s legit and makes the mats look as close to new as possible, even if cleaning off heavy mud or salt stains. The trigger is trash though - just get a cheap spray bottle and it’s all good.

I haven't read all the comments but a couple of things I'd like to address. First thing these aren't rubber mats. They are a type of plastic. The other thing that I'd like to comment on is the driver-side always gets more wear and no matter what you do it will always be a subject to a different Sheen when both sides are treated the same

Not sure on the cost for a gallon of this but I'm impressed. I use mckees cargo and matt cleaner and it does work but it's quite expensive and I probably won't buy it again and I've tried alot of dressing on these like carpro pearl, many detailers, wizards dressing, hyper dressing and wizards usually does the best and isn't slick but most look good for a while and maybe 20 minutes later it's starts to look dry and chalky again. If I ever buy these matts I'm applying a tire coating or trim coating to them so they stay looking nice and cleanup easier.

.. The Chemical Guys side looks like OEM, the other side is overdone like you dumped Tire Wet or Armor All on it. A floor mat especially on the driver's side is the last thing you want any slickness.

Good Video! EEEEEGGGGGxactly, CG products are good, but their selection is So overwhelmingly big Less is More for sure, specially for carrying them around. We may need a bit more than "soapy wader" but at most maybe 2 steps per area?, and hopefully interchangeable. I tried the tire kicker on the rubber matts, kinda worked. Some were slippery some were good. There are channels that go over too many products, i get it for testing, but we all look for the perfect combo regardless the brands. That would be a killer video series, maybe with different levels using the least amount of products. Also what about drying methods other than rugs/towels, cleaning with steamers too. ps: you have built list for your products or the vary from time to time, from job to job. ? thanks!

Yea it varies from car to car. Especially when polishing paint. Some polishes/pads work better on some cars than others. But the majority of the time i am using the same stuff

@imjoshv3 жыл бұрын
typically about 50/50 but you can dilute even more if your concerned with slickness

Good review. Did i hear correctly that you dilute the water based dressing 50/50? I'm surprised that doesn't leave the mats slippery.

You grab a btl of leather cleaner and continue browsing and see another btl labeled ss keather cleaner with some stupid kitchy name and then another. Do you drcide to compare them to see which one does what but you cant tell because the drtails on the label dont tell you anything regarding what it does vs what the others do. Theyre ridiculous. And saying they mske dome "amazing" products is pretty exaggerated. They dont make anything id call amazing. Forthose types of mats, nothing on the market beats McKee's mat - bed liner cleaner. It restores weatgertecj mats to factory without any slickness- especially the beige mats. Outstanfing, smazing product.
