How to Make Your Turbo Louder // Mini Cooper F56 JCW

This modification can be done on any turbo vehicle that you're interested in producing a louder turbo sound. The K&N Performance high flow air filter (33-3025) is a relatively cheap modification that improves performance, throttle response, gas mileage, but most importantly those super loud turbo sounds we want out of our F56 Mini Coopers. 😉
I'm not too sure why Mini decided to reduce the sounds of the turbos on the Cooper platform so much, but I do plan on asking them someday, because I'm sure BMW had a logic behind that decision. I think...😅
So, if you're interested in having your Mini Cooper F56 sounding like a car out of "The Fast and The Furious" and you want a louder sounding turbo, make sure to go get yourself a K&N high flow air filter part number 33-3025, because it will dramatically increase your turbo sounds! 🤘🏼

I believe it's the same reason Cooper S is highly underrated from factory - insurance cost. They don't want them to be considered "sports cars" for the sake of keeping insurance down.

You are not hearing a blow off valve. The mini does not have a blow off valve. The flutter you are hearing is from the turbo surging. BMW uses dual vanos on these which helps bleed some of that excess pressure through the head out the exhaust side to keep the turbo spinning, but in general, this is just turbo surge and not a blow off valve.

You need to upgrade your blow off valve to get a true flutter😂 rn you have mainly the intake sounds. Mini comes with a plastic blow off valve that restricts flutter for cabin comfort.

So today it's 80 in North Florida. I took my car out and let it sit for a few hours before opening the bonnet just to check my air filter. I would NEVER run a "cold air" intake mod on this car that's not completely sealed. The amount of heat that sits in the engine bay = you're going to be losing power by running anything other than a drop-in or a system like Eventuri which is also sealed.
