That turned out great! The letters look really good too. Let it be known that this tip only works on a 1.6 cover. The NA 1.8 has raised letters, so people tend to sand down the letters for silver letters.

TheCarPassionChannel I forget you have a NB engine. So yes you're right, the 1.8 NB engines have recessed letters like the 1.6 NA engines. But if you have a 1.8 NA engine, then yours (like mine) has raised letters. I know it can get confusing to those new to Miatas.

Another option for paint when doing the letters is nail polish enamel. Its usually cheaper than hobby paint especially when on sale, available at every CVS, Walgreens, Walmart ect. It's also available in FAR more colors. Model car builders do this to replace testors sometimes. Just fill the syringe and use just like the testors.

Very confused. I spent weeks sanding my cast iron brake calipers and even sandblasting them....I roughed them up after blasting and then spent about two hours cleaning and masking perfectly:..I dried them thoroughly and yet the paint came out of the van all thin and watery and it ran off the calipers and didn’t stick properly...I wondered if maybe it was too cold so I put the heating on and got some portable heaters out but no difference...so I used primer first and it layered on a bit better but the wrinkle finish was appalling...is it possible that British cold weather is screwing this up for me???
