Nice to meet you! I'm Japanese, and I love Zutomayo. I came across this video thanks to KZbin recommendations, and I'm amazed at how closely it resembles Zutomayo's style. Great job! The only downside is that Zutomayo's songs often feature a lot of wordplay in the lyrics, which might be a bit challenging to capture. It's an outstanding piece of work!

@@billlee3851 Everybody else here trying to make sense of Zutomayo's musical style should look up the classic Japanese band from the 70s called Sadistic Mika Band. Some Zutomayo compositions, especially Time Left imho sounds quite like some kind of tribute to the Sadistic Mika Band's song Wa-Kah Chico a.k.a. Time to Noodle (alt. title). Furthermore, the band was also heavily influenced by contemporary British glam singer-songwriters and groups such as David Bowie, T-Rex and Roxy Music and later on, even inspiration from some English prog/fusion bands at the time such as ELP, Jethro Tull, Gentle Giant, Yes and Mahavishnu Orchestra. Perhaps even some American acts such as Return To Forever and Frank Zappa.
Nah you are actually insane like you level up with each video I swear. It's not just doing new artists, the video contents actively improve each time like when you drew your own MV and now getting a real singer like damn. Basically Zutomayo: 0. ACAne's squeaky dolphin vocals 1. Just a Two of Us Chord Progression: IV - IIIdom7 - vi - I on chorus, and sometimes even on verse 1 and 2 2. Japanese Marcus Millers slappin' them basses 3. Cory Wong-esque funky riffs and licks 4. Basic keyboard comping all through out the tune 5. String Quartet or Brass Quartet I sometimes think they abuse Just a Two of Us Chord Progressions, but really, I don't blame them. That's the sexiest chord progression in existence right now.

I've been listening to ZUTOMAYO for a while, and they really do have a style that's hard to pin down. Though I think one major thing that adds to the feel of their music is their choice of instruments, they tend to look for odd samples/sounds/instruments that are more out of the ordinary. They even mention on their website that they look for oddball musicians. This combined with some interesting distortion and effects makes their music really unique. They also typically perform with an insane amount of instruments, pretty much double of everything, which adds a lot of complexity to their songs aswell. I think you did a great job and would love to see you throw in some of their more minute stylings, I think it would sound amazing!

This is great!! the bass slaps hard, the piano is very catchy! And very nice vocalist ! I think a typical zutomayo song has a barely noticeable violin in some parts of the songs but the other parts it kinda stands out alot, I don't know if you intentionally didn't add a violin but i think it could really help give that zutomayo vibe to it but it's kinda hard to make it fit in just like the guitar. This song still gives off a zutomayo vibe and the vocalist was doing a very good job she has a very nice voice and i'd like to see more of her. I'd like to see more of this type of content from you I barely know anything about composing music and you're helping me out alot this is a very amazing channel!!

Figuring out harmony is one thing and sure I can do it but like... playing 3 instruments at a very high level (guitar, bass and piano) takes a lot of time and learning. This is actually pretty good and it has a very similar vibe to ztmy songs! Realistic programming is hard so good job!

I really love the final product. It felt like a really good song that has the potential to blow up in the internet. But as a ZUTOMAYO fan, I'd say there's room for improvement for it to become a ZUTOMAYO song. The intro and verse were really good and it felt exactly like a ZUTOMAYO song. But as the song progresses into the pre-chorus it started to feel less like a song made by ZUTOMAYO and more of its own unique thing. The later parts sounded like what a vocaloid producer would definitely make especially after the chorus. As a person who's followed the group since their release of "Bite the Second Hand (秒針を噛む)" , here's some tips I could give you to make the song a lot more like one made by ZUTOMAYO: 1. Add a guitar. The guitar is an essential element to a ZUTOMAYO song as it adds this rock vibe that most of their songs have. 2. Emphasize the bass more and add something "extra". From all my years of listening to their songs, the bass is done in a way that feels funky. That funk from their bass allows them to add that extra character. So if there's anything you could do to improve on the bass, GO ALL OUT and do it in a way that's similar to Davie504. A good example of the bass would be "Hanaichi Monme (花一匁)". 3. In relation to 1 and 2, the bass and guitar go hand in hand in a ZUTOMAYO song. If you want a good example, look no further to "Time Left (残機)" and "Bite the Second Hand (秒針を噛む)" 4. This is more of a critique towards the singing chorus, but ACAね's vocals is powerful yet elegant. The verse was a good example of that, but afterwards the vocals felt too soft. I don't think it was entirely しののめ's fault though as I could see that her vocals have both of those things. I think the arrangement and the lyrics in the chorus didn't give her the opportunity to go flat out. So if there's one thing I would say about it, it would have to be that the chorus probably needed to be rearranged or rewritten. Overall, it was a really good attempt on making a ZUTOMAYO song and I could see that it had some of the elements of what made it sound like it, and the music production sounds like something that could potentially reach the charts. It just needs that guitar and a rearrangement of the chorus for it to sound more like a ZUTOMAYO song. Sorry I made it too long tho, I just wanted to give some tips on how to improve on it. 😅😅 P.S. I love your vids.
