Wanted to offer some hope as I was searching for relief myself last night. I’ve had tinnitus for three years. Usually it’s not too bothersome and my spikes are usually in the middle of the night. However, last night was different. I felt a clogged right ear and a little pressure and a very loud high pitch T in my right ear only. I don’t remember ever getting this. I went into a panic as my T is in both ears and this felt different. About 10x louder. I don’t have hearing loss and I’m 45. The good news is that after taking some anxiety medicine to sleep and praying hard I woke up without it. It was so bad I’m happy my T is as low as it is :). I know it’s hard as T for many of us can trigger fear worse then death. However, it comes and goes why panic? I’ll try to reminder that myself! Be well all.

We are video is incredible. Thank you so much for this. I looked at some other videos about tinnitus spikes and all I saw was basically, blaming. The only serious trigger I saw on another channel, was loud noises. You are actually talking about things we may be able to control and that means you are empowering us. I suffer from tinnitus now for a couple of years and finally got an MRI because of a 2-day vestibular attack. I've never had that before except for a short bursts of dizziness which I think many people have from time to time. The MRI showed I have massed toyitas and severe TMJ degenerative arthritis, both on the same side. I do not hear any noise coming from my ears but rather my tinnitus sounds like it's inside my head and always has. I really don't know where to go from here but thank you for your video.

You nailed it completely for me. I am having an all day tinnitus spike and my hearing gets muffled and that causes me more anxiety so it becomes a vicious circle. I do realize that my breathing is short and shallow and if I'm thinking of something negative, it triggers the spike. Thank you so much for a wonderful explanation of this video. It's so true that our thoughts, feelings and actions certainly affect every part of our bodies. Now to learn how NOT to get anxious more when a spike hits. you're and exceptional audiologist.

You pretty much hit on most of it with relaxation techniques, breathing, soothing sounds. exercise, verbal affirmations, etc. Part of my habituation is that I do not react to a spike. I can acknowledge that it is louder or a different pitch without value judgement on whether it is better or worse. I got away from describing my days as good or bad days. I also got away from journaling or keeping track as it just gave more focus to the T although I can see where it might be useful for a period of time to try to determine triggers. I sometimes engage in activities that I know will increase the spike (e.g. going to gun range or eating certain foods) but do not worry about it. I think this falls into your thoughts on relaxing your body with deep breaths or maybe even take 10 min to do a meditation to manage stress or anxiety. Totally agree with not fighting it and for me the positive affirmations are key as I always tell myself that it will eventually subside and then let it go.

The sound of white noise from an air purifier helps alleviate the stress of having tinnitus. Also the sound of rain. Exercise especially weight lifting gives me a tinnitus spike. Glad I found your channel. Tinnitus began with me just a few months ago. Came out of nowhere. I am 70 years old and have taken blood pressure meds for years. I am wondering if this may have had something to do with it. I have learned that some drugs are ottotoxic. I would consider mine a mild case even though at times it has interfered with my sleep. Some days are worse than others. The weird thing is sometimes it goes away for hours and even in a quiet room there is no ringing or buzzing sound. At times I can fall asleep normally with no sound and then wake in the middle of the night with my ears ringing. Does head position have any relation to it whether you are standing up or laying down? Sometimes it is worse in the morning hours . Was on vacation a week ago and it hardly bothered me. I say I have a mild case because most nights I can sleep and my case is not as bad as others I have learned about which is apparently really bad. Today it is more noticeable but it is not stopping me from doing what I need to do. I do exercise regularly so maybe that helps. My fear is that it will get worse and then really interfere with life. Loud noises will make my ears ring briefly and sometimes they will ring loudly for about 30 seconds for no reason and then go away as you mentioned. I did attend a really loud rock concert over 50 years ago but don't know if that has anything to do with it. I also may have some degree of hearing loss which does play into this. My question is why does it at times completely go away and then come back? Your videos have really helped me deal with this situation. Thankyou

Since this past year has been horrendous, I wonder if that is a contributing factor that my Tinnitus has been terrible this year - plus, I work in ultra stressful Healthcare and have to wear a mask ten hours a day - is it really "healthy" to wear a mask all the time? I know that it's necessary right now, but doesn't it interfere with normal breathing? My Tinnitus has never been worse and I've had it since 1997 so it's nothing new - it just came upon me one day but in the past twenty years or so I've had remissions from it - especially when I was on a really strict diet (due to diabetes type II diagnosis) and dropped 17 lbs. Also, how do you feel about Tinnitus that causes sounds to be distorted to some degree? If my hearing has declined lately, is that a reason why my tinnitus has increased in volume and longevity?

I just had been getting my ears clean professionally only like 3 times to removed wax. I do produce a lot. So, in 2019 I just read the papers from the clinic that I might experience tinnitus but should go away: I just heard the sound as I slept one night during the plandemic😉. I thought it was my tv, phone, computer so I took everything out or turn off and that’s when I realize I had the sound in my ears. I guess I never paid attention bc am always busy working, running, working out, doing yoga and mediation which now hearing from u it helps with tinnitus. But sometime am not even sure if I have it or just learn to live with it that I forget I have it. Clear This for me I hear also that could be high blood pressure? Anxiety? Stress? even something to do with ur brain? Maybe I been having it all this time but with the plandemic just spiked to the point for me to discover it?

Hi! I've been there a few months ago and I know how terrible it can be. I recommend you to avoid videos about tinnitus and avoid googling it if it makes you depressed, it can cause you to hyperfixate, which will increase your anxiety, which will increase your tinnitus. I got a hold of my primary doctor and after a quick examination saw fluid behind my eardrums. I'm a light sleeper I ben taking over the counter sleeping pills along with the 4 7 8 breathing exercise to fall asleep. What is the safest sleeping medicine? Is CBD oil a good alternative sleeping aid? I want to fall asleep naturally but having difficulty doing it and if I don't sleep then the tinnitus is worst.
