“Tinnitus doesn’t get louder” that’s a very dangerous thing to say to someone. My tinnitus got louder on my right ear, turned out I had so much ear wax lodged in and was so thankful to have it removed and the tinnitus went back down to low.
@DeepDarkier3 ай бұрын
so it did not get louder, you actually had less sound coming in, so it was just louder relative to the other sounds
@KarimJovian Жыл бұрын
With all due respect I wasn’t feeling this. It all culminated to like “it’s all in your head” etc “you have hearing loss” I’m sure that’s for some, but not all like stated by the Psychologist. I have had tinnitus since I was a kid, I remember laying in my grandmas room hearing ringing in my ear thinking it’s a normal thing that everyone hears this so went along with my life loving it and forgetting it’s there unless it’s very quiet. Years later into my adult life now it’s louder. Yes, actually louder, because I found out I have been clenching in my sleep, due to stress and anxiety and developed TMJ with tension headaches. When I move my jaw or neck I can change the pitch and strength of the tinnitus. It’s been checked, hearing and all is fine. It’s from TMJ, with massages it is helping but need to train my jaw to stop clenching while sleeping. Now I ask, for someone like me is this all in my head and that’s it’s the same loudness as I was a kid, or is it all in my head and have an amazing personality? 😅 Should I stop the TMJ massages? I appreciate these videos, but I felt left out from this one. However, I loved her explanation of how it’s something the brain registers as serious but really isn’t as it’s honing into something benign like a lens.

OMG, Dr. Gans explanation of tinnitus being a benign body sensation is extremely HELPFUL! It makes it so much easier to understand and not be scared of. Mine is not “bothersome tinnitus” yet I’ve become more aware of it which made me worry and after hearing the discussion on this podcast I’m much less worried. I definitely have stress and a little hearing loss that my ENT doesn’t think needs hearing aids but I’m hopeful I can learn to “ignore” my tinnitus more so it doesn’t become bothersome. Thanks so much for your HELPFUL podcasts!

I've been watching videos online for about 4 months since my tinnitus started. This is the 1st video to exactly explain what has happened to me. 1st my audiogram has showed hearing loss above the 7000 hertz. 2nd her description of my personality was right on. I have always been a person who won't stop at a problem until I figure it out and fix it. And the 3rd part started after the election. For the past 2 years I've been glued to the news. Watching and getting more upset everyday. Then one evening the tinnitus started out of nowhere. Well I stopped watching the news and as others have said there's not much I can do to about what's going on anyway. So now I'm working on reducing my stress and hopefully the worst is over. Thanks for all the incredible knowledge.

Long story short. 40 + years with tinnitus. Never really bothersome at first. Noise trauma from loud band in 2006 sent me into 2 to 3 years of wearing hearing aid noise generators. I fully habituated for let's say 15 years (stopped wearing hearing aids). Had a 6 year old girl cup her hands over my ear while I wasn't looking and screamed as loud as she could directly into my bad left ear. This was about 3 months ago. I'm struggling to believe the comment that T doesn't get louder. I'm back to the hearing aids with sound generators and presently hoping for a re-habituation.

I haven’t finished the video yet, but I wanted to say thank you. I always had tinnitus, but in April of 2021 a good friend of mine had some health issues; tinnitus being a corollary. Anyhow, all of a sudden, my tinnitus, which I always knew was there, but paid no attention to it, exploded. It was terrible. I have minimal hearing loss. But, the funny thing is, the tinnitus actually elucidated some childhood trauma that I never investigated, and it sent me on a deep healing journey. I’m actually grateful for it! I’m learning a great deal from your video. Thank you so much!! You both are helping me. Sending love to you both and the community.

Did you listen to what she actually said? Words are powerful and have an impact on your experience. The noise you hear does not get louder or quieter, but your perception does. At least, that's how I understood it. The noise is always there, but when you are tired/ stressed etc, it feels louder. Also, if your hearing loss worsens, the perception of tinnitus gets more bothersome because the brain tries to compensate for the lack of hearing. I don't know how to explain this properly bc am not a native English speaker. Anyway, I loved this video; it made so much sense!

This was an interesting conversation. But it was also extremely frustrating. Almost no time was dedicated to the actual topic at hand of “mindfulness and tinnitus” Since my tinnitus started a few weeks ago, I’ve found mindfulness to be excruciatingly difficult. I’ve almost completely stopped meditating because it’s so unpleasant to try to be in the present moment when the ringing is loud. Instead I’ve found that taking myself outside of the present moment seems to be a good way to escape the constant ringing. I was hoping to get some insight here and didn’t get any. What a letdown!

So many people use the words, my tinnitus. The word "my" indicates ownership. My house, my dog, my job Etc. Our mind is always listening. You are claiming ownership when you use the word MY. Use more generic words, the tinnitus in my brain is loud today. Put some distance between the condition and how you feel about it. This goes for using the words, my diabetes, my cancer, my heart disease. It only takes a few seconds to rephrase what you're going to say to stop owning the condition. Give it back. I wish this woman would explain why my parents have bad hearing loss and no tinnitus. I call BS on the everyone with tinnitus has hearing loss. My bet based on her faulty logic, everyone has some level of hearing loss in that wide spectrum. 🤦♀️

I think the T comes temporarily after the hearing loss but goes away once the hearing is gone. Surprised tgeir ENT didn't explain this.

She is one of my favorites. When it gets bad I always listen to this. Think you would ever make a sleep talk down video that plays sound therapy the rest of the night??
@treblehealth6 ай бұрын
Yes, that's an interesting idea! We'll definitely consider creating a sleep talk down video that incorporates sound therapy for the rest of the night. Thank you for the suggestion! In the meantime, feel free to use this guided meditatiob before going to bed. Here's the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3aplmuLebJnfJI

Interesting to hear her idea that there are similar personality factors of people who are bothered by T. Because apparently when they've studied the loudness/pitch of T it doesn't correlate with how bothersome it is. Which would imply that some people have a more sensitive amygdala, that the systems in their brain that analyse threats are stronger. Not sure I totally agree but it's an interesting idea.

HELPFUL! Question: I used to have superb hearing that extended to at least 15750 Hz (Old school television flyback frequency!) . About 20 some years ago I noticed a bit more difficulty in hearing others at a table in noisy crowded restaurants. But that was the extent of it. My BINAURAL tinnitus which coincidentally mimics that 15750 Hz tone!, started about that time and I was keenly aware of it when flying as a passenger on turboprops which I was on two times a week (6 hours total a week) for work for a while. I did wear ear plugs and perhaps some damage was done. However in about 2011 I had my hearing tested and the results while not ideal were withing normal range. Tinnitus quite bothersome at that point. Now in 2023 my hearing test is very bad at the upper range in both ears. This seems to have worsened in two years. Yet the tinnitus is just as bad as 2011 not worse. I have also had Hyperacusis episodes where just unlocking a door makes a painful sound. I am curious if my brain might be trying to reduce my high frequency audio response to balance out my perception of tinnitus / hyperacusis, and the hearing loss is happening in the system, not from damage to the cochlea?

About the same. I have moments during the day when it disappears, but as soon as I realize I don’t hear it, it’s there again. Coping with it by using the masking sounds on You Tube and Spotify when it gets bad.

I'm liking this video but I have one thing that I'm not straight on. I just went to the audiologist 2 days ago. I'm 51 and was told I have normal hearing. No age related hearing loss. There was a slight dip at 6000hz. I have a hum in my left ear at 560hz and and hum at 445hz in my right ear. So I'm someone with tinnitus with normal hearing which goes against what she is saying

Great video but I don’t believe every case of tinnitus is to do with hearing loss. I know so many people including myself that has had itbthrough anxiety and the fight or flight response being activated, this is a symptom of anxiety, plus so many other medical causes can cause tinnitus without it being from hearing loss. Really helpful information tho, thank you for the video!

I have hearing loss, I went for hearing aid test and they said I did not qualify for the hearing aids. Although I have some hearing loss, will still getting the hearing aids help with tinnitus? I would like to get the hearing aids if they help reduce tinnitus, should I get the hearing aids?
@treblehealth4 ай бұрын
Hearing aids help reduce tinnitus for most people. Hearing aids can amplify external sounds, which can mask the tinnitus and make it less noticeable.

Why only tinnitus as the core issue? I would say the treating the underlying causes of Tinnitus is the main challenge. Do a video on these, like meneire disease , ear infections, 😊etc
