I have two questions! Q: Say if a customer orders a product and I no longer have that product how do I say the item is out of stock do I just remove the product to prevent that from happening if I not longer have that specific item?

question so if someone goes to buy my product and click buy and goes through the process and gets to the checkout and it say that the tax and shipping part is pending and doesent tell them how much they are how do i fix that

The "pending" label only displays until your customer enters their shipping address. Since tax and shipping rates are determined by their address they'll need to enter their address first to view those.

If you'd like to have a product automatically show as Sold Out once the inventory count hits zero, you might want to upgrade to a paid account. Those accounts have inventory tracking, so your situation would be handled: help.bigcartel.com/track-product-inventory

Hi there! During the checkout process, your customers can leave their request in our "notes to seller" section before completing their purchase. It's not a mandatory field, so you'll just want to make sure and be super clear with all your customers that they'll need to put their details in that field during checkout. We'd suggest putting this information directly in the product listing description for all potential buyers to see. Hope that answers your question thoroughly!

Yes! Your customer will receive an email when they place their order and when you mark their order as "shipped." You have the ability to turn these notifications off in your admin, in case you have another way to keep in touch with your customers.

Is your packing slip supposed to be the invoice? And would it print twice? One for your customer and one for you as a reciept and paper trail?

Hi CJ! The packing slip is meant to be the packing slip, but it could likely serve as an invoice depending on what details you were hoping for it to include. It includes a break down of items purchased as well as the shipping information for the customer. If you needed to print it twice, you would simply print two copies. If a customer if using the customer pick up option does it need to be marked as shipped? How do we show that the order has been addressed

The mark as shipped option (help.bigcartel.com/mark-an-order-as-shipped) helps keep orders organized so that orders that have been sent to the customers and orders that haven't been fulfilled yet stay separated in the admin. It's designed that way so sellers can keep an eye on orders and don't ship any twice. Whether the order was delivered or picked up I'd recommend marking the order as shipped option in the Big Cartel admin. Hopefully that clears things up for you!

We recently launched a beta version of a new shipping feature that will allow you to create customizable shipping methods for your customers. We have more info here: help.bigcartel.com/shipping-profiles-beta. You can create shipping options like Standard, Express, or a Local Pick Up option. To set up profiles, you'll head over to the Account section of your admin, select Edit shipping and begin creating your shipping profiles needed for your store. Once you have those all set, use the toggle switch to enable shipping profiles in your shop - all set! ​ Heads up! Enabling shipping profiles will override your existing product level shipping settings so you'll want to be sure to add all necessary shipping options needed for your store before enabling. This feature is also still in beta and more improvements to our shipping feature are coming. Feel free to share any feedback you have. ​ If you aren't interested in making the switch over to shipping profiles, you can create a locals-only discount code. You can set up a discount code for free shipping, have locals put in that code at purchase for local pickup or delivery. ​ You’ll want make it specific - something like LOCALSONLY or LOCALPICKUP - that way you can still talk about it on your site, but someone buying from a different state won’t think they can use it. ​ You can set up a discount code in your shop by going to Discounts in your admin: my.bigcartel.com/discount

Sorry, there isn't a way to entirely delete an order in your admin after the payment has been refunded, but you can add a "Note to self" stating the order was refunded to help you keep track of things. Then, you can go ahead and mark that order as shipped to get it out of your way. Here's more info on adding that note if you're curious: ecs.page.link/2f227

Hi there, I wanted to use Big Cartel for my dropshipping business. I read somewhere that Paypal and Stripe can potentially hold your first sale on pending for 21 days or until the customer receives the product. Is this true?

Hi there! For orders that are processed by PayPal, those funds will hit your PayPal account immediately. You can then withdraw your money through paypal.com, which usually takes 3-4 business days for the transfer to make it to your bank: www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/article/how-do-i-get-paid-faq1750 If an order is processed by Stripe, your first payment will transfer from Stripe to your bank account after 7-14 days (sometimes more if Stripe makes that call based on various factors). Once that first transfer goes through, you'll automatically start receiving funds on a regular schedule that you can review here: stripe.com/docs/payouts We hope that helps! Please let us know if we can answer any other questions for you! You can check on the status of any payment that comes through your shop by going to the Orders section of your Big Cartel admin. Click on the order, and you should see a "View in PayPal" or a "View in Stripe" link that will take you to log in to your PayPal or Stripe account where you can view that transaction information. ecs.page.link/KbChW

At the moment, there isn't a way to fully cancel an order in the Big Cartel admin, but you can offer a refund to the customer (processed through the payment processor that completed the payment, Stripe or PayPal). You'll then want to mark the order as "Shipped" to keep your order info organized. You could also make a note on the order using the "Add note to self" field in the Activity section that says something like “canceled” or “refunded" to remind yourself if you view to the order in the future.
