For those looking for the best way to get all the charms on their NG++ you can rush through first 2,5 chapters to get to the first shooting range and check if the machine rolls anything valuable, if not just start another NG+ from your last completed run and it will give you another seed.

Here's the best strat for charm farming (NG+ if you're trying to get a full set): It all depends on the seed you get when you start a new game. I would say, play a game from start to finish where you do the shooting range to the best of your ability, but spend no coins. Expanded treasure map (DLC) will get you more coins too. Save end game, start NG+ (on anything other than Professional, you'll need the auto saves). Just run. All the way to the first shooting range. Having an infinite weapon helps (I can get there in 15 minutes). This is where you can check your seed, and make sure you don't do a typewriter save. Start with triple Silver, then triple gold (write down your winnings if you won't remember). Now, reload your auto save, and roll Silver Silver Gold, write them down. Reload again, roll Gold Gold Silver, write them down. This is your seed. From here, you should be able to decide how best to spend your coins. If this seed is a wash, use your typewriter save and start over. I did this, and it saved me doing multiple entire playthroughs. Strangely the most elusive mother !@#$%^ for me was a common (Soldier Stun Rod) that I didn't get until my ELEVENTH playthrough. But this strat saved me doing up to 14 playthroughs, as it took 3 more seeds to get that last charm.

It took me six playthroughs to finally notice that the configuration of coins mattered more than whether you just dump gold coins. Man I wish I knew this sooner.

The reason you got the same results after reloading a save is because the seeds are rolled at the start of a new game and the seeds are different for every single playthrough. You can't manip this system and you can't save scum. There are 4 separate lists rolled at the start, one for each coin combo and they are seemingly infinite and can contain seemingly infinite duplicates. You don't even need to test the system very long to figure this out...

This seems pretty similar to Dragon's Dogma purification system It's quite long explanation but to simplify The coins act as a ticket, and unless you spend it, the order will not change You can savescum how many times you want, if the game say the next charm is zealot, you will get zealot

I remember on my first playthrough stressing about needing to ace the shooting range to get all the charms, because I'm a completionist but rubbish at skill based shooting games. Then I realised you can buy gold tokens later for a small amount of Spinels, and most of the charms aren't worth getting anyway (unless if its saving you money, offering a health boost or offering a craft bonus for certain ammo)

Just a small nitpick on terminology: when we talk about permutations, order matters. so SSG and SGS would be 2 different permutations. In this case, since we don't care about order and only care about the count of elements, we call them combinations here. i.e. SSG and SGS are part of the same combination.

there's no fixed lists as far as I'm aware. you just get whatever you get for any combination but can choose quantity of coins to get specific charms.

I just want a sure recipe for Striker charm for my Professional S+ run, but RNG gods aren't on my side. With every new game the charms table changes, so if you'd start a new game now those recipes shown in this video would be void. Tables rearrange with every new game.

Yeah, there's no surefire way to do it. Unless someone creates a tool that analyzes your save file and can show you the loot table. The game also makes a single autosave on professional just after starting the game, when you enter the first house (and not anywhere else in the game on that difficulty). So with a tool like that it could be quick to figure out if there's an easy striker charm in the loot table.

I used cheat engine to give myself hundreds of each coin. There appeared to be no rhyme or reason to the RNG. It was seeded to the save. I've gotten the striker charm on my first attempt using all four different coin arrangements on different saves.

You did all this on one play through? What about a different play through? Because I wasn’t getting the same charms in my play through for the tokens I put in that you were. I believe what you get for the tokens you put in are randomized for that particular run.
