Thanks Jeff! Every video of yours I watch, I can't help but think: I'd like to see his boat :) Could that maybe be a future video? Like the very interesting ones where you took us along for a boat survey. You could ofcourse keep it completely limited to the electrical system, just a few shots of your fuseboard etc. Anyway, thanks for the effort you put in!

Maybe you could just add the slide/diagram smaller up in the corner in post editing, thanks Jeff!

Had a stuck starter yesterday, newly installed secondhand engines, glad for the battery switch ;)

Thanks for sharing, a stuck starter solenoid is exactly why you want a battery switch.

Hey Jeff, thanks again for sharing your knowedge and experiences. It is easy to understand, even for me (German). It gives a good feeling to know about my equipment when beeing offshore. It already helped to fix some problems! Wish you and PYS all the best!

do you need a specific alternator if you want to install an external regulator ? or you can just use stock alternator(internally regulated) that comes with the engine and just put a regulator ? thanks for the video Jeff

All alternators, even the ones that come with an internal regulator, can be modified for external regulator.

Hello Jeff, Great stuff!! Balmar Digital Duo Charge - 12/24v says it can charge 2 battery banks, reading their web page, looks like you can have different charging schedules for each bank, would this be a good system for my deep cycle house and my starter battery? I was going to just charge my house bank, and than use a DC-DC charger to than charge my starter bank. Thanks in advance for your help

Hey I’m on a boat with mtu 12v 4000 series and I notice the fan on the alternator is not rotating , after starting the engine voltage remains at 24.5v but after about 5-15 min the engine shuts down automatically giving a tach signal loss alarm could this be caused by alternator not working?
@PacificYachtSystems4 жыл бұрын
Good detective work... sounds like you have alternator troubles.

Helpful content but when the speaker is pointing to the graphic or using the laser pointer it would be helpful to show the graphic, rather than the speakers face!

Love these videos! Can I offer one piece of constructive (I hope) criticism? In the future can you edit these to spend more time lingering on the diagram you are speaking to rather than prolonged shots of your profile and the waving of the pointer in your hand? I noticed this a long time ago, but it seems to be getting worse. We, the viewers, often have no idea what you are talking about; e.g., "that wire."

Hi Doug, your absolutely correct. We are actively looking at ways to solve this.
