This video has helped me SO MUCH, it's just amazing how positively people respond if you market yourself enthusiastically at shows and in stores I first watched this video about a year ago, and found myself coming back to it over and over because this isn't just an important skill for the hobby, it's an important life skill Thank you so much for this and your other work

Great advice. I walk into my local reptile show monthly and see some guys sitting there with up to 16 baby ball pythons, no cards, no sign, no interaction (hell, not even a "hello! How you doing?") and by the end of the show they haven't sold a single snake. Ouch.

I went to a reptile show in Iowa this weekend and helped my friend pick out a Kenyan sand boa. All the sellers at the show were super nice and willing to chat with me about snakes and other stuff. The table where my friend purchased the Kenyan sand boa had very nice people. They let me hold an adult Kenyan sand boa and they gave my friend all the info about the baby she purchased. We were treated so nice by those people and because of that I will be a future customer for sure when I purchase a Kenyan sand boa. I also chatted with John from JD constriction and he is a super nice dude. I’m hoping to get an axanthic ball python from him at some point. I’m so glad I went to the show.

Your so right person behind the table helps so much. The last snake I bought was at a show the woman behind the counter engaged me let me hold the snake I told her I'm gonna look around but nobody else really engaged me the same way so I went back and got bumble bee enchi from her. Great advice once again.

@davidrollins23466 жыл бұрын
Your right all you see at most shows is people looking into their phones instead of taking care of business. People I deal with is like you said the people who are involved with their costumers. Gets better business that way.

This is a topic that never gets old and I think it's good that you're covering it in more than one video because chances are you said some things in this one you hadn't thought of in the first one. I found out the key to selling animals on Facebook is not to post it in Marketplace, just mention it as a conversation post and that way it doesn't get flagged. This happened with my rats. Facebook didn't ban me but made my post invisible with a note saying" selling animals is not allowed on Facebook so we are not approving this post" blah, blah, blah. Now I just put whatever I want potential buyers to know in a regular conversation starter post and it's fine. I don't think Facebook really looks into your PMs either, so lots of people get into more detail that way too. The groups are a great way to promote, although like the shows there is likely to be competition, as that is what people are there for, especially the buy/sell/trade groups. Your advice about providing paperwork with a snake is dead on! I think that goes a long way toward showing customers that you'll stand behind what you're selling.

Hey guys, how's it goin? I just wanted to let y'all know that I really do appreciate these videos that you're putting out. I know that some of the things that you mentioned might seem like common sense to some people. But I choose to look at it from another perspective. I prefer to think of it as " If someone in your position who happens to be one of the bigger names, is willing to take the time to give some pointers and tips, then I feel like I should really listen. Because you once were in the same or similar position than the one I'm in right now. So once again...Thank You guys for all that you do!!!

Yes we hate going to the search bar. There is other channels i watch and they are always asking for content ideas and i dont know why they dont remake videos that adress really comon questions. If you keep getting questions that you addressed a year ago obviously a new video would also get views. Anyway great video as always. Thank you very much for being so informative and forthcoming with industry information.

I fall in love with your holdbacks so much I want to get one. How do you do this? These videos. These videos you are marketing the entire time showing these beautiful snakes. You dangle a beauty in front of everyone and it makes them drool and crave any from you. They then go to your website and/or patreon and purchase a gorgeous snake. I love this video and each point made.

I'm thinking of starting a small business with my father raising and breeding ball pythons, and I was wondering what do you guys think would be the easiest way to go about starting a business like that. Everyone has to start somewhere but I don't know of many, if any, reptile shops or breeders in my area and I don't think it will be that easy to find the morphs that I want to breed. So do you think I should try to get some shipped to me? Maybe just keep looking for trusted breeders, or something similar?
@jetman19636 жыл бұрын
Since Matt didn't answer I'll tell you what he told me. "Buy each individual snake for best quality" and have a breeding program in mind. Morphmarket.com is where i find most of my animals, I have found animals on Craigslist and facebook groups. This is a long term hobby, most of the desirable gene animals you will find will be hatchlings. People don't sell holdback or their private breeding stock, SO YOU will have to raise these animals to adulthood which will be 2-3 years and a lot of time and money in before you can even think about hatching clutches or baby snakes to sell. I am in it as a hobby time consumer because I am retired military and have some money to buy snakes each month and am slowly building my collection with more desirable genes, multiple genes and better odds for less common snakes for snakes that will sell themselves. I have thousands invested in my small collection of 22, Good Luck
