This video will help you visualize how the triceps covers the posterior upper arm. It shows in detail the origin long head of the triceps originating at the infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula. It's the only origin of the triceps that crosses the glenohumeral joint. The lateral head originates at the posterior surface of the proximal humerus and the medial head originates at the posterior surface of the distal humerus. All three heads insert at the olecranon process of the ulna. It is innervated by the Radial nerve. Triceps extends the elbow and the long head also extends the shoulder
You can work the triceps from all three sides. Supine, Prone and sideline. you actually get better results when you work it out from different angles. You always warm up the muscle first with myofascial stretches, and good old effleurage and petrissage. After warming up the muscle you may start the trigger point release and stripping in one inch strips with more detail to each attachment site. Don't forget to end with nerve ending strokes to let the nervous system and the client know you are done.
***This video is for informational purposes.

Hello Maria! First let me tell you how very much I enjoy your channel! You are a class act and a role model for ALL massage therapist. ☺ Here's my question. I was watching another massage therapist who was doing an upper back massage. His female client was drapped from waist down. Massage went fine but in reading the comments the men were making sexual references to her butt which the therapist was agreeing! I'm sorry . . . but I feel that is highly inappropriate. If ppl make a reference to your clients body, I think the only response would be: " (Clients name) is a client of mine. Responding to your response would be inappropriate of me. Thank you for your continued support. " Am I being too much of a prude? Is it o.k. for Massage Therapists to comment on a beautiful body, whether male or female? When I read it, it just felt icky.
@MassageTherapeutics915
@MassageTherapeutics915 4 жыл бұрын
Sweet Phantasy I understand your concern and it is a fine line between it being a sexual comment (which I don’t promote) or just complimenting someone’s shape. Many people have complimented on my models beauty which I accept graciously because they are beautiful however if it has a sexual connotation I either delete the comment & don’t promote it. I am in agreement that there is no room in the massage therapy room for Any sexual connotation! I think the body is the most complex miraculous being! However when I teach it is strictly anatomy & physiology & kinesiology! I don’t make sexual references. I think that’s what separates the professional from the “icky” as you say. When I first started my KZbin channel I was approached by a famous KZbin channel to do videos for them & it would have gotten me thousands of followers! I thought about it for a while because I really wanted the exposure & wanted to grow my channel however their offer was their video, their rules. They wanted the model to lay on the table with skimpy bathing suit or underwear & red silk sheets! I made the choice to pass & said no thank you. I’m sorry because to me that has an underlying sexual tone & they know it! I found out later that their videos have been pulled or flagged a few times. The have over a million subscribers & at the time it sounded good to me to have the exposure. Now I’m glad I decided to say no & grow in a professional slower direction. Remember that if something makes you feel uncomfortable listen to your gut! I hope this helps you understand my position with what I do. Even my ASMR video are not sexual their purpose is to help people with insomnia, anxiety and stress. Hope this explanation helped... thanks for the great comment!!!!

I’m not sure I understand your question??? It’s been a long time (and many videos since then). I called it Indian burn? Or maybe Enchilada? That’s what we called it when we were young. Sorry not sure what you mean?
@lainiecurrie9574

Appreciate you sharing your extensive knowledge and techniques, wonderful! I am just mentioning that folks would probably prefer to hear the technique you described as an “Indian Burn” as either enchilada or as we learned in school-wringing (like wringing wet clothes) or friction burn rather than calling it Indian Burn, which has negative stereotypical cultural connotations attached to the name. Thanks!

Lainie Currie oh I forget I have to be politically correct all the time. I don’t ever mean for it to be a cultural negative connotation. I forget people are so sensitive. Calling it an enchilada is of Mexican decent and I’m Mexican and have never thought it was offensive. I’m just being myself when I do these videos I’m only thinking of sharing & hopefully help someone learn something. I understand what you mean now. I have so many people give me their suggestions & if I did everything everyone suggested I wouldn’t be Myself Anymore!! I do appreciate your comments and sources for discussion!!! 🤗

CARLTON GARRICK thank you for your support! It’s so difficult to know exactly what’s going on without a médical diagnosis. It does sound like a nerve is being pinched since there is numbness involved. Questions I would ask: Where does it feel numb? Did you have an injury? Do you sleep on that side? Accidents etc. I would investigate more & of course palpate. We have the deltoid tuberosity on the lateral side of the humerus so that could be the knot you feel! I’m sorry I’m not able to help much. I hope you find someone soon that can help you.

I suffered a full thickness tear of my tricep with avulsion of the olecranon. I'm six weeks post surgery and just at about 100° angle of flexion. Still a lot of stiffness/tightness immediately just above the elbow/olecranon. Would you recommend deep tissue massage to help loosen that up?
@MassageTherapeutics915
@MassageTherapeutics915 10 ай бұрын
Ouch!!! That sounds painful!!! Have you been released by your surgeon to receive massages? I would just get a massage that focuses on the triceps to release the muscles & work on the fascia. Fascia forms scar tissue so you want to work in that! So it doesn’t heal not being flexible. You need a lot of skin rolling and friction. Good wishes for your recovery

I have been using the book “Trail Guide to the Body” for 30 years to help me learn origins, insertions & actions of the muscles. There is a link in the description for this book. It’s an expensive book yet it is the book I always go to when I need answers. The triceps & biceps are agonist & antagonistic to each other so yes you are correct that you can treat almost the same. I also have a video on how to palpate & massage the Biceps. Great questions! Create a great day

Friction is great anywhere in the body to warm up the tissues. You can control the speed & range & pressure so just adjust it to how you think is appropriate. You sound like a very thorough therapist! Don’t be afraid to try & do new techniques. You will do great because most people just want a massage! It’s your confidence you need to build up. You’ll do good because your heart is in it! 🤗❤️
