Hey, thanks so much! Yes that's absolutely possible. Your build specialization is not dependant on your background. So even if you're a veil jumper by background you can spec to become an evoker build if you choose the mage class

The two builds I currently love are the Grey Warden build because it's literally invincible. At one point you can parry any attack. You can bounce back any projectile. And instead of going straight fire I have it so that perfect block and takedowns give you all kinds of advantages and then gear and skills that will give you damaged Buffs when you have advantages done properly will give you four advantages and with one skill and one gear piece that is an 80% damage buff. Being able to defend while also melting things is ridiculous. The other is the death caller mage. At one point your projectile beam becomes a literal cannon that refills your HP and will literally melt smaller enemies within a couple of seconds. Also the AOE necrosis power with a couple of area Buffs just melts everything especially if it's detonated while keeping necrosis up almost 100% of the time those two things by themselves delete enemies HP and gives you back your HP making you practically invincible. I'm really interested in the lightning build because lightning is amazing but I haven't tried it yet.

For Necro Mage, Ice is the way to go, not fire. There is even a perk that enhances ice damage when using a neco ability and necro damage after using an Ice ability.

So far I’m only level 15 but I’ve found mournewatch\control is working pretty well you get lots of aoe range upgrades and damage boosts for hitting multiple enemies and using both frost and necrosis on enemies at the same time increases their damage further it basically locks down the enemies while their health ticks away and gives you and your ai to just sit back and kill everything

I did my mix of the Saboteur build by playing around infinite momentum to activate Lightning Flask. You literally just walk up to enemies, trigger afflictions with your turret and flask, and watch them get staggered to oblivion while you activate flask again and again.

Rogue is faster and more fun if you are into DMC-style combat. Mage has flashy spells so if you care about looking cool, Mage is more fun.

I'm not sure how survivability is later on with Rogue, I'm only like level 12 and switched to mage around 8.

I had a blast messing around with a Death Caller build featuring Archon's Gaze Staff focused on Invigorating Beam with Ranged and Area skills/perks. The build makes use of Enhanced Damage and Mana regeneration. Redouble Rune, Dalish Wraps, Graven Opal, Heart of Andraste are other key gear items. Zone of Destruction perk is also needed, mostly focus on the top left region on the skill tree.

Informative and well done, but none of these classes or builds interest me. Back in inquisition you could have blue shields and grey armour on your characters, and could become very tanky even while dealing damage as a warrior or even a mage. Yet all 3 warrior builds just dont look like a tank.
