The VPPT bridge provides the structure to my morning study. I spend 10 minutes for writing paradigms, 10 each for vocabulary and parsing and 30 for translation.

Thanks Darryl! This tip of writing the paradims over and over is very helpfull. It's boring but rewarding.

The difficulty for me was that it took 2-3 hours per day to study and build the V, P, P, T bridge. I really admire those that only needed 1 hour a day of study to learn this material. But it does take all these steps to be successful...you just need to find the amount of time you need.

One tip I always give to people beginning NT greek is to begin reading the NT every day from the very start. At first you won't get much from it, but it will begin to cement what you are learning and by immersing yourself in the language you will be learning as you read, whether you know it or not.

The writing out of paradigms, is true with most languages. I took 4 years of Spanish at my high school, and when we learned a new tense to conjugate, we would right then out so much, my hand would start cramping. But it worked. So I recommend that. And as I start my biblical Greek, I'll start to implement all this other advice

Thanks for your work and the hours you've put into your videos! Although I'm not a member of Master New Testament Greek (I've almost finished up Merkle and Plummer's introductory grammar) I've benefited from your videos. They're a great resource for so many things with Greek, but mainly they're a great encouragement to keep plugging away at Greek each day!

This video was very encouraging. Especially since I've been doing this for the last month after I started with Beginning New Testament Greek. I use anki, which handles the spacing of the repetition nicely, which I write out by hand instead of just looking at the words on a flashcard (this would be MY personal one tip that has helped me a lot). Before I start with my allocated 45 min/day with Greek, I first check my anki app if I have any new words/paradigms to learn/review, and go through that first, before I even look at the paragraph in the grammar I'm working through. If I spend all 45 min only memorizing/reviewing vocab and/or paradigms, then that's how that day goes. I also add new chapter's paradigms and vocab to the app before I actually start studying that chapter's content, so that also forces me to memorize it before i tackle the chapter. All this together is giving me a nicely paced, thorough work-through of each chapter before I move on to the next, and it leaves me actually feeling confident about a chapter before I move on to the next.

Love your videos! Just curious if you have a video or have any feelings on N. Clayton Croy's Primer? It is what I am using in class and must say I am overwhelmed by the lack of knowledge within English grammar let alone Greek. I picked up English Grammar to ACE NT Greek and that is helping

It would be helpful to learn new vocabulary by seeing how they are used in sentences and how those sentences are used in paragraphs.
@bma
@bma 3 жыл бұрын
That would be nice. But most people find that slower and more frustrating than learning words and then seeing them in use.

What are some tips you have for buying books in New zealand. I've always found it expensive to get books over here.
@bma
@bma 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. You are correct and I don't have a magic bullet for that unfortunately. I normally buy electronically which saves shipping. Normally kindle books are less expensive than physical books too. I also have quite a big Logos library, but Logos books are not necessarily less expensive than physical books, but you still don't pay shipping and the ability to search them is helpful. Also gracebooks.co.nz has a very good selection of books here in New Zealand, but not much from a language perspective. I hope that helps!
