Horizontal overhand was my favorite position but overhead was a close second. 27 years, I welded on everything from structural, ornamental, mechanical and was also pressure vessel certified. I use to build airvac tanks for cruise ships or basically anything that processed waste. Those tanks moved material at 2700 fps. Ever seen a ballistic turd? Lmao true story. Mild, tool steel, stainless and abrasive resistant. AR plate is pretty amazing stuff. SMAW, mig, tig, oxy acetylene and brazing. I loved doing my job. Built some pretty awesome machines. Worked some very prestigious jobs but hands down my favorite Old #7, largest blast furnace in the western hemisphere. Produced 7 tonnes of steel a minute. Stood 360 feet high and when they knocked the bottom out of it, that shit was spiritual! Feeling the ground rumble and the roar would reverberate. An incredible feeling to experience and years later I can still feel it. ISG is an incredible place to to work. Makes a man remember just how small we really are. After a broken neck and back I can not do it any longer but hands down, I loved my job. Worked jobs all over America. That being said I fucking hated welding anything with 60 series electrodes. I'd rather slow jerk a mall Santa. Welded millions of square feet of decking with 6022 but other than that, 60 series is nothing more than a coat hanger trash rod. Thinking of going back to school to obtain a AWS CWI. Maybe one Day but for now imma arm chair welder lol so get'er done or take a soap stone and write hard on it and I'll get it

Tarantula Fingers he means the actual process of welding the coupon out, from the point of getting it tacked and put in position and bought off to begin the test. lots of test shops will not allow you to use more that a file and wire brush during the test to assure you are cream of the crop!
