Two years later did you get there? Me, 66, 3 months bench at 175, will try for 185 next week. Probably 225 by end of the year if rate of weight gain continues.

A bit of a set back Dan and Donald. I’ve been dealing with post concussion issues for the last two years..have some good days but then relapses occur. I’m working out now a couple oof times a week. This is just a setback. I will do it but I may be 70. 👍😎

@@johnfield7270 For working out I have strong days and average days. Every day is not the same. You work out light and if you are not at speed that day, just stay there. Then there are strong days to do more. I like the 5 x 5 style of training near max. Walking my big dogs 3 years ago they saw that rabbit and took off. Unfortunately they were all on leashes to my left hand. That pulled my arm so bad I could not lift it over my head for 6 months. It was still sore trying gym this year so also got a trainer with mix of stretching exercises and weight workout. At 5 months when he left to college, I was virtually recovered. Elderly man I chat with at the gym does 135 bench for maintenance. He is 70. That is not a bad weight to bench 5 reps at 70.

They should make the NFL bench test to your body weight. Otherwise you get 300 pound linemen doing this with ease and you get 175 pound running backs struggling

If you can't bench 225 pick a weight you can do 20 reps with (you are in the silver zone, better if youre in 30 depending on bw) Dont expend too much on warm ups right before. Ex. 135 for 20 then 225 for 10 275 for 10 (For Beckham here) Focus on the number you wanna hit, strive for it instead of just jumping in. Loosen Hips up.

Just letting you know on average most people can perform RIGHT AROUND 10 reps with 75 percent of their one rep max. This would be 168lbs in your case. You have a lot to work on if you want to achieve 185 for 20 reps. Im not hating just helping. Btw I am 160 pounds and bench 235 so we are right around the same weight so I can relate

McPrezy 225 is maximal strength where training under your max is more muscle endurance so some people probably could but I️ agree around 160 would be better

Hey, ik im late, but if ur trying to get stronger quick man, EAT! Being in a caloric surplus and gaining more weight helps a ton. But lets say u dont want to eat more, bench 3 times a week and incorporate pause sets (pause the bar on ur chest for 2 seconds/missipi, count in ur head or outloud). Do not eat less than u are eating currently and do not lose weight. Do progressive overload, which means add weighgt after each set (for u, that means do some reps with the bar than go up to 1 plate/135 pounds, do that for 8, than continue going up by 10, so 145 next, until u cant do 6 reps. U should aim for 8, but if u get 6 and cant afterwards thats ok. Once u cant get 6 reps, u can either drop back down to 1 plate and rep out until failure, or go down in weight by 10 pounds, meaning if u stop going up at 155, go down to 145 than 135 and stop there, do 4 reps going down). I coild go on for hours but if u rlly want help i can set up an entire program for u, but typing it out would take too long so u can send me ur instagram or twitter and than we'll call each other/talk from there

@@KizaWittaker that was 2 years ago, I can't do any of that now I kinda quit training, but I wasn't training for high weight. For like a whole year 5x a week I was repping 135 (even on leg day) I would do as many as I could till failure. I definitely did do it 56 times, but that's because that's what I was training my body to do 👌🏼
