What is the thickness of the number 2 master pin. If I understand correctly, if you have a master key and the user key could only work if a number 1 master pin is used, then you would just get a different cut user key that would use a minimum of a number 2 master pin? Please excuse my ignorance, I'm still in the learning process. When choosing a pinning kit, I chose the .003 kit by Lab, so therefore I don't know the size of a number 1 master pin in the schlage kit. Thanks!

Is it possible to make a system that uses two or more master pins in the same slot? An example would be 3 keys with different cuts (i.e. depth of 9, 7, and 5 respectively) in the same pin position. Would it be safe/effective to have a bottom pin #5 with two #2 masters on top?

In this case both 733531 and 731553 worked, but if you had the key 731353 would also work or even 733553 as long you have a clear shear line. I guess you could make it work but the more combinations the lock could be picked quicker. If you really need more master keys you can go to an electronic lock.

Makes sense, and this information is very helpful. Thanks for the videos as well :)

Yes, you can stack master pins if necessary. But usually it isn't necessary. The situation where you would stack master pins is called "cross keying", which is where you want two or more change keys to work in the same lock, along with the top master key. Cross keying is not something to be taken lightly. It can cause severe problems, not the least of which is a high risk of key interchange (where a wrong key operates the lock). Sometimes this is acceptable in low-security situations, such as the door to a laundry room.

yes, I think while I was editing the video I accidentally moved clips around making a mess in the final product.

Ya I repin locks and cut my own keys, but this isn't clear at all. I think a 3rd (#2) pin is added where it makes up the difference. Idk what kind of pin or how the ends should look(flat/curved?) but I'm assuming having 2 "break points" allows a tenants key for eg and a master key to work. It doesn't explain that though. Lots of views, few up votes, and lots of confusion I think..
