I got the same issue. Stupid saddle valves. A tee with a stop valve is the way to go. The thing I am thinking over is how to reground the pipe after converting to pex. Will probably just run some copper wire and secure it to the meter fitting. That is one of the gotchas of Pex. Its not metal so you can't just connect a ground to it. Full pex renovations have to consider this. Don't want a fatal shower no do we?

Unfortunately it didn't work for us. I think it's dead. As much as I hate to, because I really liked this one. It has a 3rd rack, on the bottom, for baking dishes & pot covers and they don't make them like that anymore . Well, it was worth a try. My husband even put on a new computer board. I guess, after all it's 23 years, it's had it's time and time for a new one.

I am looking to get a replacement duckbill grommet for a GE freezer drain, can anyone suggest where I could search? Also I could not exactly follow what you did in the video. I saw you pulled out the black duckbill but then what was the white thing you pushed in first? Before you pushed in the replacement duckbill?

Ribbon cable = common failure. The ribbon cable can be removed from the button control also. It’s just adhered in. I found a type “b” 18 pin 1.25 pitch ribbon cable for $6 on eBay and it repaired mine. Maytag will b.s. you on the phone and say you need the whole unit.
