With the dolphin kicks being conservational allow me to intervene here; (I know crazy, but i spent over 2 years observing fish) and i found the following: There are certain fish that moves there head and upper part like crazy as they kick Others will almost keep their upper part still (Almost, but the upper part always move), while most of the movement is from the lower part. I believe if it is individualised to fish, then i think certain things work best for different swimmers :)

A couple of things I disagree with. On the dolphin kick, the under water kicks, for sure, use the whole body to generate more power. However, on the breathing kick, you can't properly engage your core since you are inhaling and have to relax your abs a bit. If you watch closely, you will see that all fly swimmers will have their heels at the surface of the water, or even slightly above the surface of the water. They use extra amplitude to keep the strength/power of the kick the same. To date, I have not seen any complete explanation of the gallop style of freestyle, and why it works better than the more rhythmic freestyle, think Ariiarne Titmus, compared to Katie Ledecky. The arm stroke is not on an even beat with the gallop style, which Caleb does use. This means that one arm stays out, extended, for just a bit before engaging the pull, so yes, he does that, as does any swimmer who used gallop style. The arm that stays extended is the breathing side arm. With the 50 free, it is now a no breath straight arm, no wrist snap/flick event where stroke rate is the determining factor. With the 100 meters, they do use the wrist flick. As for # of kicks off the wall, the sprinters, which I guess means 200 meters or less, maybe the 400 meters, they do take 5 or 6 kicks off the wall. The distance swimmers take 3.

I agree with everything said here - I don’t know what you disagree about lol I think using your entire body for underwater is great - for certain swimmers, not for all though.

@@KyleMillis You forgot Pan Zhanle, the current 100 WR holder. (I only follow freestyle) Both the 50 and the 100 free are a tough ask for Dressel to even medal in this summer.

I think Caleb is burnt out. I don't think he'll shine in Paris but I pray to God that he crushes the competition.
