for me that was the moment when F1 showed how Monaco isn't suited for f1 racing anymore I mean there are tracks where overtaking is notoriously difficult, like Hungaroring or Yas Marina, Sochi and so on. But on none of those tracks a car that had basically a gp2 engine could have any chance to win a race. And that just doesn't seem fair, it clearly shows how impossible it is to overtake at Monaco with current f1 cars, no matter how slow the car in front might be

As a Colombian, my best memory was Juan Pablo Montoya's win in 2003. My dad would wake me up every race day, early in the morning, while he was competing in the category, to watch his races and those are really some of the fondest memories of my childhood, spending time with my dad, having breakfast in front of the TV, watching the race and stressing the f out the entire race haha. I remember that day in 2003, I was 8 years old, my dad woke me up and told me that Montoya had qualified 3rd the day before so he could have a chance to get on the podium, we sat in front of the TV in the living room, he was having eggs and coffee and I was eating cereal, the race started, we were locked onto the screen the entire time and once Montoya got in first place we didn't utter a single word until the race was done, I remember looking at the floor almost every corner cause I thought that I'd jinx it so he'd crash and once he finally crossed the finish line in first place I remember running to wake my mom and my brother up so they could come and see how a fellow Colombian had just won the most prestigious race in all of motorsport. Awesome day.

My best Monaco memory is my Dad taking me there for my first (and only) live GP ever in 2006. He saved up for months and surprised me with the tickets on my 18th birthday. And he didn't even watch F1, but he let me give him a giant primer on the tech, drivers, strategy etc. And he actually decided that he would root for Nico lol. I've done better in some... not so much in others. Michael Schumacher 2012 pole lap after his comback to F1 was the most memorable moment for me.
@Jojo_Bee3 жыл бұрын
The 2012 Merc wasn't even their finest car. Monaco really brings out the best of the driver because it's a very technical circuit. Aerodynamic downforce is only as good as the speed you get with the car. The driver's sense and guts (driving fast in a tight circuit with merciless corners if you make a mistake) really shows. Even without another title to take home, MSC really showed he still has some of it. Besides, to be a champion you really have to be in your zone thru the whole season. You can't blame him if he lost that consistency since his departure from F1 at the end of 2006. With age, past his prime, and lack of practice, I was in awe he even managed to clinch a pole position before ultimately retiring from the sport for the last time.
@Stantube10003 жыл бұрын
@@Jojo_Bee The fact that has been blowing my mind was how many time Michael changed his brakes balances(including one handed drive through Louis Chiron - incredidle mental capacity) to get a perfect braking setup nearly for each part of the track Neither Nico nor Lewis were doing the same thing there ever.

Nico’s stock value is also tied to HAM as he is the one who beat him in equal machinery: The better HAM, the better nico is
@kgeorgel123 жыл бұрын
@@pervonhagelbrakare8172 You have a point. I have heard so many people put Nico in their top 10 for that reason. But I dont think anyone will ever beat Lewis again

Panis' win in the Ligier or Senna in the Toleman. 2 truly iconic moments that could have only happened in Monaco

GEM. What a content. WOW. And one of the most underrated champions. I think we cannot imagine how utterly hard to beat superstar driver in a team concentrated around him.

Unfortunately, no one recorded it. The most legendary lap of the track, and no one can ever watch it.

Most memorable moment: Senna’s 59th lap in Monaco GP in 1988. 59 secs ahead of Prost. Ayrton was the f*#*ing Master.

senna's 1988 pole lap which was seconds faster than p2 but no onboard which just adds to the myth of that magic lap

The moment where riccardo defended Hamilton the best way I’ve ever seen someone defending. I’m a German boy and not such a big fan of Riccardo but he has my respect cause that was absolutely amazing

For my memorable moment I'm going to suggest Schumacher bringing out the yellow flags during qualifying to stop Alonso's hot lap and attempt to keep pole. Controversy followed! I definitely can't think of any other occasions when yellows have been brought out during Monaco qualifying securing a pole ;D

Best moment has to be where Kimi just walks casual after his "crash" to his yacht and gets some drinks. Just shows his amazing and funny character.

The moment of silence to honour Niki Lauda in 2019. I was present that weekend at the GP and honouring one of the greatest drivers of all time with so many fans at the most memorable track on the calendar made me feel humble to be there.

My best memory is actually from my youth, when my father went to Monaco in a business trip and he saw formula one live for the first time. From that point he newer missed a race! It was facinating to se the impact it has on him. And that inspirerad me to start watching formula one.

For me Monaco is like the Palio races in Sienna because of so much atmosphere in town and build up of so much energy towards the start of the race and then the release of that energy once the race has started.
