Beautiful cup. Can you do a video of a black matte finish? I have some black tumblers I have done and really like them more matte looking rather than shiny since it’s for men. I know you mentioned black scratches would show up more but how much more? Also l think I prefer how you do it rather than others using steel wool.
@GlazedEpoxy
@GlazedEpoxy 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes I’ll do a video testing out different ways of using final sand on a black cup! That’s the color everyone has trouble with, but it does look great when done right! Thank you for watching! 💕💕

Some of my tumblers prep really well with final sand and others are much harder to scuff with final sand. Will you share an image or video of the sanding process and show how scuffed the cup should be? My skinny tumblers are scuffed in two minutes but my traditional 20oz (from Michaels) don't scuff very well even after 5+ minutes of scrubbing with final sand. Any tips are appreciated!!! Thank you for this video!! You are one of the only people that talks about using final sand to prep tumblers.
@GlazedEpoxy
@GlazedEpoxy 3 жыл бұрын
So I usually only scrub mine for 1 to 2 minutes a cup and I’ve never had a problem. I use a maroon scuff pad, but you could also use an abrasive steel wool. I think as long as your using something abrasive it should be finely scratching the surface as well as cleaning it, I don’t think you need to see the scratches as much. I haven’t tried the ones from Michaels but I want to since they are such a great price! Thank you for watching! 💕😄

Do the oils from your hand or lotions stain the matte finish? I saw someone who couldn't get the oils off after they matted their cup.
@GlazedEpoxy
@GlazedEpoxy 3 жыл бұрын
It won’t stain it, it will just appear shiny while the oil is on there. Just wash with dish soap and it returns to matte! I just tried it with olive oil and it washed off fine! Final sand is lightly scuffing the surface, so it won’t be a shiny finish again unless you polish and buff it. I hope that helps! 😄 Thank you for watching!

@GlazedEpoxy
@GlazedEpoxy 3 жыл бұрын
What epoxy are you using? If it’s on the thinner side, it could want to spread out more. Or maybe try using a tiny stir stick and wipe most of the gray epoxy off so your barely putting any on. I know from experience you can go overboard really fast lol! Thank you for watching! 🥰
